I will admit, after seeing Detroit going up by 2 earlier I thought we were gonna get stomped hard. But it all turned out good in the end.

:plusplus:

They got a little more respect from most Hockey publications this year but they are still way under the radar. People don't realize how good this team was WITHOUT Erik Johnson and Paul Kariya. It makes a huge difference having those two back and a lot of people don't realize it. Coupled with negligible roster moves allowing the players to gel further. This team can be scary. They just need to actually do it.

Obviously it's very early, but last year's team was resilient even when they were terrible early on. And it looks like they have the makeup of the gritty team that doesn't give up, jus tlike last year's team. i love it.

It is nice that the core of this team no longer has the fear of the Wings engraved in their DNA.

Tkachuk is the exception. I did NOT like hearing him say that "We can not intimidate a great team like the Red Wings."

Yes, yes you (Franking) can, and should intimidate them. Take it to them. You now have firepower to match them. Show them.

Awesome game, we won the battles everywhere, especially when Perron came out with the puck against Lidstrom on the board.. The timeout Murray took, was a great time for it.

Hopefully we can keep up the offense and the power play the rest of the season, couldn't have started the season out any better.

I am kind of surprised that no one has mentioned the commentating yet...

I have watched a lot of Red Wings games and hate their announcing. You can tell that they are Detroit's announcers.

Having said that, was anyone else happy to hear someone else call the Blues that wasn't John Kelly? I would take someone rooting for Detroit everyday of the week over Kelly!

Only the play by play was Detroit, Pang was doing the color.

And, REUNITE BERNIE AND JOHN.

Lol, alright just making sure. I could barely tell, could have used a little more Blues bias from Pang though.

Agreed. Get Panger in mid-season form, he will turn into another Federko

I am not a Pang fan, but I thought he did a pretty good job of commentating and keeping the Wings guy in his place. There was a couple of times where the Wings guy wanted to go off on a tangent and Pang would just say, "oh, that was a clean hit."

++, on one condition: they're not doing play-by-play for the Blues.

Ken Daniels got a little more excited over the Red Wings goals, but that was go be expected. I knew he couldn't play it down the middle.
It wasn't bad though. He did a good job.

I didn't remember at first that they were doing the dual commentary thing. So I was complaining in flashchat about the detroit bias a bit. But, looking back at it it was done fairly well and I liked hearing the different viewpoints.

More ridiculousness:

From a poster at LGW, talking about the two games in Sweden between the Blues and Wings:
Quote:
Did you notice that it was basically two home games for the Blues? They had the Blues' PA announcer and Blues graphics on the jumbotron both (Franking) days.

Wow.
Yeah, having the PA announcer and a graphic on the jumbotron cancel out the 12,000 Red Wings fans in attendance in the 14,000 seat arena.
Sounds about right.

I think Detroit flew out all the people that attended the Stanley Cup final series, cause God knows they couldn't sell out the Joe when they lost last season...which seems to the theme to this years team...LOSING. :detsucks:
