Even with the Blues scoring struggles...Brewer is not that good defensively, yet he's a defenseman wearing the 'C' as this team's Captain. What have you all seen that warrants Brewer being the Blues Captain? While the GAA are down, it isn't because of Brewer. It's because the Blues have two excellent goaltenders in Conklin and Mason. I still have yet to see Brewer assert himself in the Blues defensive zone taking charge like defensive Captains are supposed to do. Instead, he regularly backs in, doesn't stand up opponents, and seems to refuse to hit opponents when defending his own goal.
Let's judge the Blues Captain by his defensive play - which from what I've seen - still sucks. Please, go ahead and continue to make excuses. He's played 8 games and is -7. The only defenseman worse - his partner - Pietrangelo at -8 whose played one more game.
Daryl Sydor +5
And all of them have played more games. So why is Brewer this team's captain given he's a defensive liability????
I forgot to add only one player was ahead of Brewer in terms of being negative in plus/minus last season before his injury and that was the forward, Brad Boyes.
