In the "nobody cares but Blues fans and even then it's a toss up" category.

2 years, undisclosed price. Obviously the assumption being low.

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Blues signed forward T.J. Hensick to a two-year contract extension on Monday.

The 25-year-old Hensick had one goal and two assists in 13 games for the Blues last season. In addition, he played in 59 games last season for Peoria of the AHL, scoring 21 goals and adding 48 assists.

Hensick was acquired from the Blues in a trade with Colorado last June.

Originally a third-round selection by Colorado in the 2005 draft, Hensick has 12 goals and 26 assists over 112 career games.

lol, couldn't have said it better myself. I don't dislike him, but I'm not excited about it either. Hopefully he turns into a productive player some day.

That move is strictly to provide veteran goal scoring for Peoria. He's not even an adequate couple game replacement on the 3rd line. He's a liability on defence, at The NHL level, and he's neither fast nor shifty enough to make enough operating space to help the team's scoring at that level. He's just about proven that he's a career AHLer. He'd have made a lot more money in Europe, but stayed with Peoria to accept another 2-way contract with a slight raise in NHL pay, and AHL pay level raised to the maximum (it was $105,000 last season, and can't be more than about $110,000). As he won't play many games in The NHL, his raise is basically moot. It's clear he doesn't want to spend a few years in Europe. That's good news for The Rivs, but matters little to Blues fans.

This.

At first the move surprised me considering the coaching staff up here clearly didn't like him at all. But you have to fill out the roster in Peoria as well and considering they plan on Reaves and (possibly) Porter being here all year and may need a fill in for DP at least early on next year, they needed that veteran scorer to count on down there.

Hensick is a strange case. You look at his numbers in the AHL and he puts up some good looking stats. But it doesn't translate to the NHL. Some guys are just like that. He's a guy that I always hope can be a call up and could chip in some 3rd/4th line offense, but it never happens. A lot of the time he's just invisible out there. But as a Peoria signing, it's great. Why wouldn't you want to have a guy with his numbers on your team?

They were ripping this move on the radio today.

Attention all local Blues media...
This is a Peoria signing...and barring a lot of injuries, HENSICK IS NOT GOING TO BE ON THE NHL ROSTER NEXT SEASON.

Yeah, I love how people around here b*tch because they don't talk hockey on the radio here in St. Louis, and I ask "Who on the air around here knows anything about hockey?" Bernie does, and he's talks it a little, but he's mentioned before that the powers to be have told him not to do more then 15 minutes on it.

Because ESPN 101.1 FM needs to fit in 12 hours of Cardinals talk...and 11 hours and 45 minutes of Rams talk (even in the F'ing offseason)...so that only leaves 15 minutes a day for Blues talk.

I like the Rams and all, but Jesus...they'll talk about the Rams and the NFL for hours and hours a day in the middle of the offseason, and only give about 15 minutes to the NHL, DURING THE ACTUAL NHL SEASON!!! WTF??

I understand it's about ratings...but I don't have to like it. It sucks and is why I don't listen to them that often.
Thank God for XM Home Ice...but I'd like to hear more Blues talk...sounds like we need a Blues podcast...hmmmm.

A Blues podcast would be sweet. Are there any LGBer's that have long hidden radio aspirations? Or golden pipes to host a bitchin' podcast?

We may have something in place here for next season. It's in the early "discussion" stages.
