I did see that, Jaykay... I think it would turn some heads especially since it very clearly doesn't say Tarasenko on the back. I mean I know the intent, but things that are written in Russian tend to confuse people. Is that the actual Russian spelling of his name?

I don't speak russian at all, but since i live a little bit closer, i can say that this is to 99% his name written in the russian way. their alphabet is called cyrillic, and if I remember correctly you can translate it 1:1, letter per letter here:

http://www.ancientscripts.com/cyrillic.html

P = R
C = S
H = N

The blue flame is the logo of gazprom, the biggest russian gas-company, and since their name is written the same way, i guess it's "original".

also, i think thejerseyhub.com seems to be serious business, although i never bought a jersey there.

all those facts make me think that this really is a close replica of his SKA-jersey. you only get closer if you buy one in their fan-shop or get a game-worn ;)

edit: yeah, and i actually don't think that you find an SKA-jersey with his name written in our alphabet, only if you find one to customize

Looks right, so now I have to wrap my head around the idea of spending that kind of money for a KHL sweater.

I found a site, that have an SKA jersey, and Tarasenko's name is written in our alphabet on it.
It seems to be a Canadian store, but they ship things to USA (for $15 if I'm correct), so take a look at it, if you would like to. :okman:

I'm sure Bryzgalov will follow suit as well.

Report: Kovalchuck signs 4 year deal with St. Petersburg SKA of KHL.

And nobody is surprised.

Here's the real question: Do you put Kovalchuk in the HHOF?

I say yes. While 11 seasons is a small sample size the guy was at times absolutely dominant and several players have gotten into the HOF with a lot less. Talent level alone I say you can't NOT put him in. But that's me.

I wouldn't Waukee, just not long enough. I would put players like Lindros and Kariya above him any day, and those guys were passed up in the most recent voting.

This is where my problem with the HHOF comes in. It's called the Hockey Hall of Fame, not the NHL Hall of Fame. The HHOF proved that you don't exactly need a strong NHL career to make the hall when they added Tretiak to the mix (as well as the three women inducted).

I say as long as Kovie goes on to a good career in the KHL, he should be added. If his numbers in the NHL and KHL make for a great combined total, why not?

EDIT: I guess I should clarify that my "problem" isn't the fact that players from any league can be inducted, but that people seem to forget that. Not just fans, but the voters as well.

I don't think any hall of fame is exclusive to the primary league of that sport. There are plenty of non or indirectly MLB related displays in the Baseball HOF.

I'd say he doesn't get in. Voters are going to be hurt that he jumped ship and left for Russia.
