If this is serious, will someone please fire Army before it's too late?

gtfo. That would be the biggest moron move ever. Trading Copley was to make more playing time for Husso backed up (obviously) by Binnington. Husso needs to take the reins as #1 down there for the next 3 or 4 seasons and really season. Bringing in a 3rd goalie, no matter who, makes it completely illogical to have even bothered trading Copley.

The only things Army needs to be working on now is trying to find takers for Lehtera (definitely) and Berglund (probably not) and negotiating with Vegas to guarantee they take Bouwmeester's contract.

TB is having major issues with Cap, so I'd go Berglund to TB for Flippula. Lehtera would take a First being sent the other way to get rid of him to any team and I'd rather we kept the First and buy him out if we couldn't move him. Boomer's contract is only bad in hingsight; we didn't expect him to get injured and have that train crash, still, he needs to go and we SHOULD get something useful back if we ship him out.

The problem with Army is that he has no direction of endgame. He can build up a team to compete, but he absolutely can not build up a team from there to win. Thus all this reshuffling like he's doing. He has no idea what it takes.

I'm fundamentally not opposed to giving up on this season and maybe even next for the greater good. Every rational observer has to recognize that the Cup runs through the eastern conference now so it's illogical to do anything rash on the off chance that there would be any way to compete with teams like the Pens, Jackets, Rangers or the clear cut favorites the Capitals. The pendulum has swung from WC dominance to EC dominance and it'll be a few years before it swings back. May as well gear up, and if that means getting what you can for bit players who are replaceable by guys already in the system then go for it.

That's the definition one would assume when the GM says he's rebuilding, right? JFC, Puh-lease.... Almost no one rebuilds and keeps winning. Penguins and Blackhawks are rare exceptions.

The Blues are not winning the Cup with this year's team and Fabbri out for the season. Get what you can now, draft well, attempt to sign vet UFA for help (although the UFA market is weak in terms of talent under 30), open competition at camp next season, and see whose actually playing the best and play them after camp.

Unfortunately, the Blues have a head coach who has NO CLUE how to actually use talent, improve that talent, and play it the proper minutes with the proper people.

So write off seasons as ending at best in the 2nd round as long as Yeo is running this show behind the bench.

On topic, were Halak to come back, it would be AHL depth only. He's no longer an NHL goalie. But, Husso is already there, so it would be stupid, IMO, to re-acquire Halak.

As long as Army is GM we're getting Hitch/Yeo guys or pretty much any retread which isn't the wave of the future. Young players need younger or offensive minded coaches who understand them and understand the changes to the game better.

If I'm GM, obviously and I've said it a bunch of times, I'm interested in getting Dave Lowry in as HC. Also retooling the scouting department would be a good idea. Sometimes it seems like the drafts are just throwing darts at a wall.

Berube should be worth a look given what he's done with the Wolves turning them completely around from last season's disaster.
