They are 1-7-2 in their last 10. It's a tough sell that they are playing well right now.

The record is misleading. The Blues looked just as bad in December and January, but have turned that around. You have to look at the games and how they are playing, not just the record. If Dubynk hadn't turned into a sieve this past month, it wouldn't be so bad. If one discounts EN goals, they've lost 7 one goal games in the last 13 starting with the Blues game. That's usually not that hard to turn around. And they are going to get the chance to right their ship playing the Avs, Hurricanes, and Coyotes in 4 of their last 6. We'll see, but I'm not as confident as some that this is a favorable matchup simply based on watching their games, seeing the effort, seeing Dubnyk play poorly, seemingly facing All-Star goaltending every night whether or not the goalie is any good, and just not getting pucks to go in. Now if Dubnyk doesn't get himself straight, it's a great matchup. ;)

And just watching NHL tonight, you aren't going to see the effort. I'm shocked those guys haven't brought this up. They are usually on it.

I hear ya. 10 game samples are always misleading when they are that extreme. I would much rather play the March Wild than the October-February Wild though too. Never know, they could turn on a dime and start crushing teams. I bet they have that in them, but I like the idea of playing a struggling team in the playoffs.

Preds lost again tonight. If we go 4-1-1, they can't catch us.

While laughing, remember how bad folks were claiming Allen was in December and January

Allen Dec/Jan 18 GP 3.42 GAA .878 SV%
Dubnyk since the Blues game: 11 GP 3.31 GAA .871 SV%

And Dubnyk was a Vezina candidate before this bad stretch.

And if Allen has a full season like he's played since February, he'll be a Vezina candidate too. I hope he does.

My memory may be going, but I think I read somewhere that since the coaching change, Allen has the best numbers in the league.

Yes, this is true for GAA and SV% - not sure on Win-Loss, though.
Record: 12-6-1
GAA: 1.70
SV%: .942

Allen is likely going to be named one of the NHL.com Stars of the Month, if not the 1st Star of the Month for March (8-1-1, 1.39, .951)

Not even close in W-L because of that stretch in mid-February when Blues lost 5 in a row, because they couldn't score (Thanks, Jori).

(March record in parentheses)
Calgary Elliott 16-3-1 (March 9-2)
Washington Holtby 16-3-2 (8-3-1)
Chicago Crawford 13-4-0 (7-3-0)
Columbus Bobrovsky 13-4-3 (9-0-1 0.99 GAA (1st) .971 SV% (1st) - that's disgusting!)
Montreal Price 13-8 (9-2-0)
Edmonton Talbot 13-8-1 (7-3-1)
Anaheim Bernier 12-3-3 (10-1-2)
St Louis Allen 12-6-1 (8-1-1 with 2nd best GAA and SV%)
Nashville Rinne 11-5-2 (5-3-2)
Toronto Andersen 10-5-6 (7-1-2)
Tampa Bay Vasilvesky 9-5-3 (8-3-1)
Carolina Ward 7-4-4 (5-1-3)
Winnipeg Hellebuyck 7-6-3 (4-4-1)

What's funny about one of those, some mediots were claiming Talbot should be considered for the Vezina.

Yeah, W-L since Feb is nothing to shout about, but damn if those numbers in March don't look sweet:

Let's hope he keeps it up (sts).

Friggin' Bobrovsky has 4 shutouts this March. Talking about stepping up ones game when already playing outstanding.
