And this experienced officiating crew screwed the Blues in the 3rd.

Two hooks - blatant
Hold - blatant
Bortuzzo - blatanly high-sticked by Subban

None of them called after giving the Predators a 3-1 edge on PPs through the first two periods.

Penalties are penalties. 2 of the above were on scoring chances and one stopped a Blues odd-man break out. ....

The Blues had no jump in their legs for the whole first half of this game, and after that it was off and on. They used a tremendous amount of energy in their first series, and relaxed after the series win. Real winners don't do that. The Blues will come back skating next game, but spotting The Preds one game makes it tougher to win this series. But, we saw that The Preds' team defence and Rinne can be beaten by this Blues team. They had a fair amount of good chances. Imagine if they'd play well for a full game, instead of in short spurts.

Nashville's last goal was an exercise in futility by their opponent. The 27/19 pairing had some rough moments tonight and that was one of them. Weird (that's putting it nicely) decision by Allen to swing at that puck. I have faith in him and 27, though. 19 is who he is.

Even still, I'd like to see these games stay more 5 on 5 or at least even out the penalties as Theo alluded to. Wouldn't have issue with the broken stick slash they called on 28 as long as they called it every time, which they don't.

Disappointed in 26 that he couldn't muster one faceoff win with the net empty. And why is 20 taking faceoffs at all?

So it goes.

Exactly. The lesson learned from this one should be the Blues can't take time off in the middle of games. They started well, relaxed a bit in the 1st after the PPG against, relaxed even more following the Fiala injury, struggled dealing with the penalties (one of which was a complete joke), but proved they can beat them 5-on-5 with a strong 3rd period. Need to play a complete game the way they played the 3rd to earn those power plays in the 1st two periods which they won't get in the 3rd.

The Subban "dominated" Game 1 story is making me laugh considering how much the Blues were torturing him in his own end.

Blues were better team in 3rd - had all the momentum. Some missed calls on predator players but the Blues gotta stay out of the box - the slashing penalty on Subban was so obvious and that's gonna be caught each time. Bouwmeister's turnover was bad but Allen has to stop that one - he was expecting a fastball there and got a changeup.

What a maddeningly frustrating game to watch. Don't cry to me about the refs. The calls were close enough. You have to be more disciplined in your physicality. That simple. Good teams never blame the refs, you get it done.

Or, you know, kill a penalty. That helps too.

I'm immensely proud of this team but really frustrated after this one. Battled all the way back, dominated large portions of the game, all the momentum... and THAT was their 4th goal? Ugh.

Parayko is the second coming. The patience he showed on that goal was textbook straight out of the players manual. Logged a ton of ice time. So impressed.

SOBOTKA. Good God man. That shot was disgusting, he's had a phenomenal playoff year so far.

Also: WILL SOMEONE WIN A FACEOFF!?!? We lost about 4-5 straight when the Preds had the 4-3 power play and if it wasn't for Pietro it could've been worse than it was.

The refs put the whistles in their pockets in the 3rd for BOTH teams. Did you not see when Schwartz was hurt trying to get off the ice and his replacement had already jumped over and the puck slides between Schwartz's legs? Preds players yelling their heads off at the refs? That's the definition of too many men on the ice. Wasn't called. Sorry, this game wasn't even close to the refs fault.

Preds showed a vulnerability in the 3rd last night - when Blues had the momentum and confidence the Preds couldn't get it out of their zone. First Blues goal was odd too - the skater just went right to the net uncontested by any Preds player. So if Blues can continue to put pressure on Preds it appears they will continue to retreat. That's their achilles. Have to wonder if that the leg break the Preds player got will be used a rallying point for the team (i.e. win one for the gipper). We'll see.

Penalties really killed us in this one. Without giving up two PP goals, we win.

Like others, I am (mostly) pleased with our 5-on-5 play. Like I hoped, we matched up better against the Preds than the Wild in even-strength play.

The Preds' 4th goal was all on Jake. Sorry to say it, but it's true. If he doesn't dive forward to try and swipe it away (and miss), that puck doesn't go in. The way the momentum in the game was going, if he had held his ground and kept his pads on the ice, we would be singing a different tune today.

And for God's sake, stop letting PK Subban take slapshots from the left circle.

I'm not super thrilled with Bouwmeester on that last goal (although somebody told me that it took a bad bounce, I'll have to rewatch). But, Allen has to stop that. That just can't happen with 5 minutes to go in a tie playoff game. Just absolutely can't. Allen is the biggest reason we won the first series, so I'm not going to get too down on him yet. But, that was awful.

Anybody know what this is in regards to? I'm guessing it has something to do with Fiala (Blues Twitter wished him a speedy recovery). I'm not sure what he's referring to with the fans though?
