Quote:
The Blues rallied from a 3-1 third period deficit in Game 1 but ultimately fell when veteran Vernon Fiddler scored the game-winning goal with just over five minutes remaining in regulation. The Blues scored a pair of third period goals for the first time in the 2017 postseason in Game 1 and held a 3-2 edge in 5-on-5 scoring. The Blues have won six of their last eight home games against the Predators and have a 2-1 record in their last three Game 2s. St. Louis has also gone 2-1 in their last three series in which they lost Game 1.

What to Watch

Colton Parayko was a monster for the Blues in Game 1. The second-year pro scored his second goal of the postseason while recording 12 total shot attempts, including five on goal. Parayko also tallied a plus-3 rating for the second consecutive game. For his career, Parayko has accumulated 43 points (nine goals, 34 assists) and a plus-18 rating in 93 games at Scottrade Center (reg. + postseason).

Quick Hits

The Blues delivered a postseason-high 36 hits in Game 1, including 10 from Ryan Reaves
Jake Allen allowed just two even-strength goals in Game 1, maintaining the third-best even-strength save percentage (.960) this postseason
Jaden Schwartz has 23 points (eight goals, 15 assists) and a plus-16 rating over his last 25 games (reg. + postseason)

This day in history:
1970 Jacques Plante led Blues to 5-0 victory over Penguins in Game 5 of Western Division Semi-Finals recording his 14th and final career playoff shutout. Frank St Marseille recorded a hat trick for St Louis.
1992 Sergei Federov scores 1st OT playoff goal to be awarded after video review in Red Wings 1-0 win over North Stars tying the series at 3 games each.
2009 Sergei Fedorov, at age 39, becomes oldest player to score Game 7 game-winning goal in playoffs in Capitals 2-1 win over Rangers.
2009 In one of the most stunning finishes in Stanley Cup Playoff history, the Carolina Hurricanes rally to win after trailing New Jersey 3-2 with less than 90 seconds remaining in the third period of Game 7 in their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series.

Still not afraid of the Preds. Like others have said, stay out of the damn penalty box and we win. Subban ain't s*** when you got Colt 55 and Pie. Tonight, Jake Allen commits felony theft. Book it.

Well what can I say without being ultra-repetitive?

Every playoff game needs to be treated like a must win because every playoff game has value. You win game 1, you get the upper hand, you win game 1 on the road you get even more hand. Game 2 you either get back in it or you put a clamp down. If the Blues want it, they'll take it. If not, Nashville is in as prime a position as we were against Minnesota and they were against Chicago.

We needed to prove Rinne was beatable and we did. Unfortunately, they also needed to prove Allen was beatable and guess what? Both teams proved what they had to prove and Nashville came out on top. We'll see who rolls with it tonight.

Blues 2
Preds 1

Another reason I was laughing at the "Subban dominated" crap, all of the 5-on-5 highlights feature him battling with known super physical Blues forward Jori Lehtera - and Subban had to battle him.

I was concerned with our frantic start but no results.

Let's tie it back up.

one defensive zone mistake - they score.

Thank goodness the refs made the right call on the major.

And the Blues PP worked. Ellis got caught following Stasnty in front of the net which opened up all that space for Tarasenko on his goal.

Hope Parayko is alright.

Tarasenko!!! Rifles it in off a screen!!! Blues tie it at 1!!!

But, Parayko going off the ice putting no weight on his left leg better be just a scare and no serious injury. And The Blues had better score again on the remainder of Fiddler's nasty penalty.

Blues were way too flat on their power play opportunities in that period.

Heck, the Blues should just deny their power plays and stay 5-on-5. They actually work every shift, then.

Agreed. Hard to believe we've had 4 power plays and only have 14 or so shots through 2 periods. Pretty dull 2nd.
