Calling it now... Blais scores within the first 3 minutes of the 3rd.

Also, I didn't realize the S was silent in his name. The more you know.

Blais has looked like he belongs out there on NHL ice in today's game. The O-Zone. He's made some very good passes, and taken some good shots, and has all fit in well with his linemates (Schwartz and Schenn).

Sunqvist's stick didn't touch that puck that sailed over the glass! The Blues should have had a partial power play! Bad call!

But good kill.

But then Kucharov scores and The Blues trail by 2.

Glad to see we're back to playing Mike Yeo old timey hockey. All that scoring was getting old.

The Blues got a lucky power play with 48 seconds, to have 6 on 4. But they couldn't score. Tarasenko's goal was too little, too late. Let's hope The Blues will be rested at home, and play well for the next several games. I was glad to see Blais play well.

Back from the game. A few thoughts:

Tampa had better positioning all night- they were constantly where they needed to be, clogging the passing lanes, lifting sticks, and not giving the Blues any room to skate. I thought the Blues' young legs would be a advantage, but that was definitely not the case. I think their inexperience showed a bit.

Passing was awful. Or rather, our ability to corral a pass and hold onto the puck. A few of the long outlet passes connected, but it was a fight to get through the neutral zone most of the night.

#91 was largely a non-factor. He seemed off- didn't seem to have his normal moves.

Lots of other Blues fans in the crowd, which surprised me a little. Tonight was the celebration of the Lightning's 25th anniversary season, and at pregame they introduced the members of the original 1992-1993 Lightning team. That was pretty cool.

Prior to Game 1, if you said we would start the season 4-2, I think we all would have been pretty happy, considering our injuries. But they haven't looked like the same team in the last two games as they did in the first four.

Couldn't make the game in Tampa this season, but the past two years there were plenty of Blues fans. Some Tampa fans complain, because there is almost always a significant group of opposing fans at every game.

The Blues looked tired at various points of that game. Found energy late in the 3rd, but they just didn't seem able to maintain that energy throughout the game.

Blais played well, however, getting to play on a line immediately with Schwartz and Schenn made a difference. Who someone lines up with matters. How well does he perform if he's given the Megan/Rattie/Thompson treatment? 4th/3rd line minutes while playing with Paajarvi. Sundqvist, etc... Find it interesting someone makes the team out of camp, yet is given a lesser opportunity than someone who is sent down and recalled. Not trying to down-play Blais play, because he was very good. Just back to questioning coaching staff decisions.

When is Megan going to be in a game for more than a few 4th line shifts? The argument thus far is "well, he doesn't kill penalties." Big question - he was a top 2 forward for Chicago last year, finished 4th overall in the AHL in scoring, scored 3 SHGs, so he killed penalties there. Why not here? Why isn't he being given more of an opportunity when he made the team out of camp? He was supposed to play vs Florida but wound up scratched due to Jaskin's screw up because Megan doesn't kill penalties. Ludicrous.
