Re: Ivan Barbashev Signs 3 yr Entry Level Contract
I thought Army just said he was staying in major junior this season...? Or is this for the prototypically retarded "strategy" of burning an entire year of an affordable entry level deal by having a younger prospect play in 4-10 relatively meaningless games at the end of the season when their major ...

Re: off season mid term status report
Interesting! Hockey-Reference.com and NHL.com both have him as a center, however, in 2005-6 he played 3 games, took 0 face-offs. 2006-7 7 games 0 face-offs. 2007-8 25 games 7 face-offs. 2008-9 44 games 14 face-offs. 2011-12 16 games 5 face-offs. Those certainly look more like winger numbers. Trying ...

Re: off season mid term status report
Army has talked about using Analytics http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/hockey/2014/05/19/nhl-blues-payroll-record/9130033/ Q. How does your front office use analytics-based techniques? A. We're heavily involved in analytics. When I was managing the Dallas [Stars] (Armstrong spent six years as Da...

Re: Blues re-sign Berglund to 3 year deal
We seem to be focused on different issues. Your focus is Berglund the player. I agree with your basic assessment. He is a tremendously disappointing player. With his size and skill he should be an MVP candidate. He's not. He's a guy you expect 35 points from. I would love for them to package him wit...

Re: Blues re-sign Berglund to 3 year deal
A lot of problems with your piece there that undermine its thrust. First: many of those comparable guys who don't look better than Berglund statistically are veterans. The pay scale is higher for them. They potentially bring intangibles. Justin Williams, anyone? Also, it's not too bad that 25% of t...

Re: Blues re-sign Berglund to 3 year deal
I don't think this is a bad signing at all. Locking in for three years probably makes him a more attractive trade asset than being an RFA with arbitration rights. Even if he stays its not a bad contract. Berglund is not a bad player; he just should be better than his is given his skill set and size...
