Because Afinogenov is like a box of chocolates.

Re: Forget Kovalchuk
It appears obvious to me that whatever offensive moves Army is planning, they aren't going to be substantial, unless we come out of nowhere in the Gagne sweepstakes. I'm quite frustrated. Last season's offense obviously didn't get it done, and we've only lost players (e.g. Kariya and Tkachuk). Is m...

Re: Blues sign Halak (4 years)
Even if in hindsight this deal blows up, the Blues just traded for a goaltender who has franchise potential for a forward who might be a decent top 6 forward someday and then signed him for four years at less than a $4 million cap hit. Can't argue with the logic, have to love it.

Re: GDT: 2010 NHL Draft
There better be some kind of trade in the works to get somewhere in the next two picks and draft Etem or Bjugstad, or I'll be at the airport ready to send off Jarmo and be rid of his sorry ass. What the hell was that all about? Jaden Schwartz? May the Schwartz be with us? What the frick??? Oh I did...

Re: Ex-Goaltender Mason Throws Teammates Under Bus
BTW, according to JR, Mason was not talking about Jackman: http://interact.stltoday.com/blogzone/morning-skate/morning-skate/2010/04/reading-beyond-todays-story-on-barret-jackman/ We'll if JR said it, that seals it. Ha was talking exclusively about Jackman. The only person in the media that's wrong...

Re: Ponich signed
This will be a fun prospect to watch so long as people don't start projecting him into NHL lineups anytime soon. Years from now we could be happy about this pick.
He's back in the WHL next season, right? Or will he be eligible for the AHL?

You're talking about a college aged kid in St. Louis, MO (you know, the home of A-B products). I would be more worried if he DIDN'T want a Natty.glen a richter wrote:Why would a well compensated professional hockey player want to drink crap like Nattie Light?

Re: Note to Checketts...
If they hadn't decided to go with "You're the Last Piece of the Puzzle" slogan, I wonder if people would be less pissed off. I woke up this morning feeling good about a team that has a bunch of young players getting better each season that has already made the playoffs once and will finish with a de...

Re: Kariya, Paul
To an extent, you could have a point, but the fact that this organization has failed repeatedly to develop talent despite numerous changes in those in charge means that you can not rely on that as your basis for improvement. To me, this point is where I keep disagreeing with you and others. I don't...

Re: Kariya, Paul
This guy is not a checker and is no longer a goal scorer. Where does he fit on this roster? Leadership? A guy that jumps from team to team where the paycheck is? Or the guy that has been a shot his whole career and never learned how to pass? I don't want that guy leading guys like Oshie and Berglun...

Re: Kariya, Paul
Please, there is no reason NOT to to re-sign Kariya if you can get him at the right price. If Eller is good enough to make the team, he will make the team regardless of whether Paul Korea is on the roster.

Re: The Offseason
If the moves made this off-season don't lead to the playoffs, THEN I can start criticizing/being frustrated. Then we can look BACK on it and say, "Maybe he isn't making the best moves." That is EXACTLY what I'm saying. That almost word for word what I said in the other thread. If this team isn't ea...

Re: The Offseason
I'm not saying JD is flawless. There are some things to be concerned about. I think the strides they've made in 3 years has been phenomenal and I think this summer we'll really be able to see which direction the front office is going to steer the team. This is all I was saying, though a 3 year deve...

Re: The Offseason
John Davidson took over for the Blues on June 30, 2006. Team results: I don't think we need to belabor this. Safe to say, the Blues have not won one playoff game under Davidson. Drafts: 2007: 1st--Lars Ellar (still not in NHL) David Perron (good pick, especially late in first round) Simon Hjalmarss...

Re: The Offseason
Couldn't agree more with the last two posts... took the words right out of my mouth. Its easy and understandable to lose patience as Blues fans (See: The History of the St. Louis Blues Franchise). But in this case I'm not ready to do it. If by next year they aren't legitimate playoff contenders then...
