All of the hockey stuff was cool, but I think maybe the best part of the entire special was a clubhouse interview Art Holliday conducted with a profoundly drunk Vince Coleman after what I assume was the pennant-clinching game against the Giants (?) that year. It started off with VC yelling, "What el...

I can see the correlation when I notice that stores have quit carrying Edy's Slow-Churned Pumpkin ice cream and it's not even friggin' Thanksgiving yet. God knows that makes me want to hit somebody. :x

I happened across an old videotape at my parents' house this past weekend that contained some Ch. 5 special about sports highlights of 1987. Turns out Mel was on the ice for Ron Hextall's 1st goal ever scored by a goalie (where he intentionally directed it into the opposition's net, not a flukey one...

I still have the list that someone posted on one of the earlier incarnations of this site years ago, but it'd take me like a month to type it all in. I'll see what I can do for a condensed version, though, and not all of these may be played still; the list is from '02, I think. I'll leave out all of...

Larry King's coverage last night wasn't much better. He was interviewing one of the students (of 4) who was fortunate enough to get out of the German class alive. LK asked, "Did you see anyone get shot?" The student replied that, unfortunately, he had, and LK responded, "Well, how was that for you?"...

I'm pretty much painting a bulls-eye on my back here, but this is the random observation thread after all... I'm strangely attracted to Erin, the badass pink-haired esurance cartoon bimbo. I'm not sure whether I should be ashamed of that or not. :?: That's nothin'. I know chicks attracted to...

Finally saw this commercial last night and dug (hehe) the bit about Weight's lifting of the Cup.
That's the bit that gets me every time. I love that commercial.

OK, I dig the Versus commercial for the playoffs, the one that starts out something like, "1985: Wayne Gretzky makes 'The Great One' sound like an understatement;" however, it bothers me that they say that in 2001 the Cup engraver finally had to learn how to spell "Bourque," which is in flagrant di...

I can't believe that you guys are so down on Kitch. He managed to get us into the playoffs when he took over for Q, what had Andy done? Yet another example of how a coaching change can make a team play better, even if the new guy is not necessarily better as a coach. For the record, I do think Murr...

Since the old one appears to have gone the way of the puffin...

What's the deal with the phrase "clean as a whistle"? I'd think whistles'd be pretty gross, actually, what with all the spit and whatnot.

At least we won't have to hear about how Pronger is a cancer in the lockerroom anymore. Even when they gave MacInnis the 'C', it was still Pronger's team in many ways. Maybe this will free Weight to take his play to the next level. I was thinking about this last night...didn't somebody say somethin...

What about if Crosby goes to the Red Wings? I'd rather see that than watch him put on a Rangers jersey. Thats the Blues fan in me speaking.... I'd rather set my head on fire while watching a fourgy involving Gary Thorne, Cris Collinsworth, Kirk Maltby, and Adam Vinatieri than see anything b...
