DNS funkiness?

Postby Prngr44 » Thu Feb 14, 2008 12:59 pm

I only get this at work so I'm really not sure what the prob is, but every other day or so the site doesn't load and throws DNS errors.

:(

That's the first I've heard of that type of error here.
The DNS switch was done back when we upgraded the forum software...so it's not that.

What exactly is the error saying?

I experience the same thing, but only at home, not from work. What happens is I get the page cannot be displayed error and have to add the "www." to the front of the domain or take it off, I don't remember which it is.

I have my bookmark set to http://letsgoblues.com/phpBB/ and it usually takes 4-5 tries to get to the site. I keep getting a "page can't be displayed" error or something with Firefox and I just refresh over and over until the forum shows up. Weird. Doesn't happen with any other sites but this one.

For the record, I'm still experiencing DNS funkiness. It's completely random... but I will have days where I cannot get LGB to load at all. This is happening at my new job, so I know it wasn't just an issue with the network at my old place.

I'll look into it.
Not sure what the problem could be though.
You'd think it would be a problem for everyone.

here too...had/have this problem with IE, Mozilla and Chrome...from work and home...not every time, but enough of the time (about half) to piss you off

could it be too many requests coming at one time?

It's been acting up for me the last few days too. Took me 5 tries to get here this morning.

It's been acting up for me for the past few months as well. And once I am able to get the page to load and, say, get into flashchat, I'll get booted after 5-10 minutes and won't be able to get back in. Tonight I can't access flashchat at all, though the forum's come up OK for me. FWIW, this is all using Firefox. I haven't tried IE yet because I hate it and am stuck with it all damn day at work (where I don't normally have access issues with the forum...am scared to try flashchat there but it'd probably just be me and Dooger during the day anyway. :) )

FWIW, I'm having trouble tonight as well; it's not resolving in either IE or Firefox. I can access on my BlackBerry but never have been able to get flashchat to work properly on it. Also, it's kind of a pain in the ass to type on for any length of time. :)

Every other site seems to resolve OK. This is a really odd problem & it's been driving me nuts that I can't figure out why it's happening.

I wish I knew what the problem was for you.
I have no problems viewing the site from home or work or wherever.

I still have the 5 refresh problem pretty regularly with Firefox. Always 5 tries and it works. Not 4. Not 6. Always 5. I have no idea why, but at least it finally loads. It's only LGB that does that too.

My work computer pops up about 5-15 error messages on about half the sites I frequent.. LGB isn't one of those sites though. I get no error messages if I bring the computer (it's a laptop) home and access the same sites. Yay for work cockblock.

I assume this is no longer an issue since we switched to a better server a while back?
