I swear, I've said it before and I'll say it again, if they just sit around for months not doing anything, I'm going to be upset.

upset = big understatement.

I wish Bettman would finish this conference call soon so I can eat lunch and go park a running car in my garage. :cry:

They didn't meet between September and December.

I could see them waiting until the Summer, if not the latter half.
I think they are not going to talk again until the end of September next year. I see a repeat of this season next year.

We will see...

They have no need to. Players would not get paid then so there is no desire to do it. Otherwise they would have met before Sept this past summer.

That would be the most realistic one of them all. :cry:

Gary Bettmen said, not wrote:"Every professional sports league owes its very existence to its fans. Everyone associated with the National Hockey League owes our fans an apology for being unable to accomplish what is necessary for our game and our fans. We are truly sorry."
I hope that someday the players remember this.

When I was first becoming interested in the NHL, it was a time when you often heard about how unassuming, gracious, and down-to-earth the players were, as they remembered how hard it was to work their way up through the junior leagues, how many times their parents had to make all-night road trips to get them to games, and how much overall sacrifice had to be made to achieve the pinnacle of a sport that they loved while being largely ignored by the sports fans of the United States. Unfortunately, it is clear that those days are long gone. This is truly a sad day for anyone who cares about hockey at all.

How stupid can the union be? Don't they understand that they will never get the $42.5M cap again? Don't they understand that they will have to accept linkage? Isn't it bad enough to go a full year without a paycheck? Now they have to accept that their next NHL paycheck will be even smaller than it would have been if they signed the agreement today?

If I was a player, I'd be so pissed at Goodenow and the union reps. The funny thing is all of the players who are willing to place blame are pointing to Bettman.

I guess the NHL Board will meet in the next couple of weeks to discuss the impasse and any new proposal. I doubt we'll hear anything from the union until they're pushed.

They are not blaming Goodenow because that would involve taking responsibility for allowing themselves to be led blindly and passively to disaster.

Several NHL insiders are saying there is still a chance a deal could be reached.

Not sure how unless the NHLPA totally gives in, which I don't see happening.

Meaning for next season?
