I think it's a good move by the Blues. They now have plenty of cap room to sign offensive forwards, and with Brewer, Jackman, Woywitka, and Backman, you have 4 solid young multi-faceted top 4 material defencemen. They can be an excellent defensive nucleus for years to come.

That makes it predictable not funny.

Furthermore, this is just an embarassing and pointless trade.. Brewer is an RFA and my guess is he'll command at least 2 mill a year. So if we say he gets 2.5 mill.. With the pro contracts for the other 2.. That's 3.5 mill a year.. Versus Pronger's 7.2 million. We're saving 3.7 (Franking) million dollars.

This franchise is going to give away the best player that has ever put on its jersey (save Gretzky) so Bill Laurie can save 3.7 million? Are you f*cking kidding me?

Except we're supposed to have a 30 million budget, so we aren't going to sign any forwards..

Crikies, Batman. The big man is gone. Good for Pronger, Blues go into re-build mode. They may rent a scoring winger or two, and thank God they have time to find one. Oilers are a worthy team, especially after we mauled them on the Weight deal. Beats the Leafs.

Don't freak out over the compensation, Brewer is young and cheap, ideal in this labor market. I remember him being a big deal when picked. Reasonable future #1-2 defenseman.

Blues could turn right around and trade any number of these guys, but I doubt it. Why not keep them? Offensive help is a dime-a-dozen, good blueline help is harder to find. Youth is at a premium. I like the deal.

Apparently the Blues are going to field 17 defensemen a game.

Hey, if a few of them fight, it might be worth watching...

I'm certainly not expecting a lot of goals to be scored...

I never thought this day would come. I am in total shock. Total. Steve I IMed me and told me and I fell out of my chair with tears in my eyes. I don't think I can ever get over the fact that we a) don't have Prongs anymore and b) that he'll be in the Western Conference!

I'm glad someone is as sad as I am.. Maybe everyone else just prepared themselves in advance, but there was a large part of me that expected somehow they would work it out and Pronger would retire here like he should have..

This is a very sad day.. Pronger and Macinnis have embodied Blues hockey for as long as I've been a fan of this team, and now they're both gone...

$2,014,000 is what the QO was for Brewer

I am trying to keep a reasonable thought process on this trade. While #44 has been my favorite Blues player for many years, I knew the chances of him staying here were slim.
Eric Brewer is a talented defenseman. Obviously not the calibre of Pronger, but still a very good d-man. He can move the puck well, has pretty good vision and is not afraid to throw his weight around in front of the net.
Wojwytyka (sp) is a player that I have heard about for a few years but have never watched. He is supposed to be a well-rounded d-man with a decent shot.
Who is Lynch??

Enough analysis. As Nancy Kerrigan screamed after getting beaten on her knee....

WHYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Woywitka and Lynch are Peoria-bound (to start, anyway)...

And the payroll is at around $30M right now...

That's it, Blues fans!!! Your 2005 St. Louis Blues!!!

I like this trade... don't get me wrong.. none of these guys will ever be a Pronger, but the Blues are building for the future.. good times will come of the St. Louis Blues! good defense for the future in Brewer, Backman, Jackman, and Woywitka.. Then throw in the good goalie prospects we have with Schwarz and Bacashihua. We just need to get some fire powered fowards next year's FA.. Vinny C comes to mind? Thornton perhaps? Also draft a good foward.. Since I don't think the Blues will be great this year.. We might have a good chance at getting Kessel or Frolik. Hopefully this team gets sold to a good owner.. Future is bright..
