Not to be a downer or anything, but regardless of your bet- you had a one in eight shot of getting it, and considering how many posters we have on the board...

I got it right because I knew their pitching was overrated and that our pitchers would shut them down.

Now pipe down, mouthpiece.

I'm not surprised that the Tigers choked. When they could have clinched the division against the Royals at the end of the season, they got swept. They got swept by the Royals.

The Cardinals deserved it. They were the best team when it mattered most.

I think the classic LGB line you were going for was "Shut your mouth and know your role."

"I’m not typically the doom and gloom type of fan… but what you witnessed last night in the first few innings of the Cards/Mets game was all hope of winning the World Series going up in flames. For this team to have a chance in hell against an American League staff in the World Series they needed Mark Mulder to be pitching well and clearly that isn’t going to happen." degroat (OS?) august 24

hahahaha.... just saw your blog for the first time. this caught my eye

Actually he did not have a 1 in 8 chance of getting it right, odd were definitely not in the Cards favor.

When guessing at random, there are only 8 possibilities in the world series--therefore, any guess has a 1-in-8 chance of being right. However, after the guess has been made, the probability of that particular guess could be much lower.

For example, if the US got in a free-for-all war with Brazil, South Africa, Ethiopia, Kenya, Barbados, Grenada, and Tuvalu, and I guess at a winner, my guess has a 1-in-8 chance of being right. However, if I choose Tuvalu, my chance at that point becomes much less than 1-in-8.
