Right now Minnesota is on pace for 95 points...meaning the Blues will need 96 points to make the playoffs.

They need 43 points between now and the end of the season, which comes out to an average of 1.792 points per game....which over the course of a full season would give a team 146 points.

In real terms, they have 26 games to go. They'd need to go 21-4-1 to get 43 points in those games.

There's still hope.
At least someone gets it.

Colorado lost tonight to the Nucks, so we get two points on them as well...

on the 20th, a lot is going to be decided...

We are at home against the Jackets, gotta win

Calgary and Colorado play- if Colorado loses, we get two more points on them

Minnesota and Dallas play- if Minnesota loses, we can get two points on them as well.

Edmonton and Ottawa play- if Ottawa wins, we gain two points on the Oilers AND it wont help solidify another team into a western playoff spot if they DO lose (as is the case with Dallas and Calgary... assuming victories)

its a lot of "what ifs" but we could conceivably be within striking distance of that 8th spot after the 20th...

22nd
Bad news- Colorado and Minnesota play so were F'ed in terms of gaining ground on anyone here...

Nucks, Calgary, and Oilers all play as well...

we're basically at war with the Northwest Division until further notice is what it boils down to :?

So the Blues lose 3 in a row and it's over, they need to dum players...

Then they win 3 in a row and now they have a shot.

This is great!

Isn't it...

When the impossible is seen as only improbable, apparently everything becomes plausable, and in some people's minds inevitable!!!

if you want to call "conceivably within striking distance of the 8th spot" a calling of an inevitable playoff berth, go ahead, but I never said anything was certain or inevitable or anything else.

Luckily JD and his crew are not KAGs swilling the blue koolAid while wearing the blue tint sunglasses.

There are trades in the making. Just wait for it.

When they lost 4 of 5, that killed them. They were steamrolling towards 8th place, only 8 pts. out of a playoff spot until they lost to Minnesota and stumbled over the next few games.

What they are doing now is clinging onto a sliver of hope.
They are two points away from 9th place Edmonton (and Edmonton has thrown in the towel for this season). If the Blues somehow manage to grab those two points, then they only have one team left to catch...but they are currently 10 pts. behind that team...so....

There just isn't enough time left in the season.
And after we trade Guerin, Tkachuk, etc....I doubt we gain any more ground on a playoff spot....but then again...you never know.

"This is why they play the games."

I was talking about their drive for the playoffs under Murray.
But yeah...the first 30 games are the reason they won't make the playoffs. Had they just played just under .500 hockey over the first 30 games, they'd be in the playoffs easy.

If murray had been coach all year, do you think they would be the favs instead of the Predophiles?

No...they aren't THAT good. But, knowing us, we'd say they were.
