Anyone else...
prefer Lombardi to Kovy?
Just wondering..
I mean, obviously, Lombardi is going to be the better value, but even beyond that, I think I'd just be more excited by it..
I suck as a fan,

Re: Anyone else...
seriously - put Lombardi's speed in Tkachuk's place on that second line, and we roll 3 very high-powered and threatning lines, that makes it all click - with the money saved from Kovy, we could even sign a defenseman (since Cola and Weaver won't be back), or another goal scorer (Ponikarovsky?)..and have money to sign the RFAs.
McDonald - Boyes - Backes
Oshie - Lombardi - Perron
Beglund - Steen - Ponikarovsky
King/Jansen - McClement - Sobotka
Yes?
If there are egregious errors in this analysis, I apologize. I am just getting back into being something more than a casual fan.

Re: Anyone else...
Assuming Kovy doesn't sign with us, which is an if, (I guess, I don't know), Lombardi isn't a bad choice, though I'd be wary of a long term deal, which he may want considering his age. I'd like to see us sign one guy who can plug into the 2nd line.
Strickland hinted that the Blues were looking at Martin on D, and I'd love to have him. I'd rather spend money on Martin this year (Let Petro get his feet wet on the 3rd pairing), and spend Brewer's money on whatever forward we need next year. I think its possible for us to sign a guy like Martin and a solid, 20 goal guy and be about to afford the RFAs we want to keep.

McKenzie says Martin looking at Pit and they are working on getting him.JCShutout wrote:Assuming Kovy doesn't sign with us, which is an if, (I guess, I don't know), Lombardi isn't a bad choice, though I'd be wary of a long term deal, which he may want considering his age. Re: Anyone else...
Martin is gone. Hamhuis is gone. Tallinder is gone. Gonchar is gone. No major UFA defenceman signing. More money for a forward. I really doubt that Kovalchuk will sign for any amount The Blues would be willing to offer. The Blues just signed Dave Taylor as head of player personnel. Maybe that will be a factor in bringing in Frolov?

You don't rank Eller up there with Warner as a St. Louis legend?Winning Unlimited wrote:time to change your sig.joosforjihad wrote:He's headed to Nashville. 3 yrs $10.5 mi
