The Blues scoring goals... that's funny.

I remember that. Sorta.

I love how so many people on here are part of Blues Fan site forum, and when the Blues have a run of bad games, all you can say is things like "they suck", and "why waste my time?". It's ridiculous. Either you're a Blues Fan or not! You fair weather fans need to step off! As for the Blues performance tonight, they were amazing for 2 1/2 periods, and then as someone stated earlier, they had a meltdown. I'm not sure what has happened to Halak, but he just seems not to have his head in the game lately. Beyond that, the other problem I see is the Blues ability to bounce back from a goal against. One goal against, and it's like some one let all of the air out of their sails, and they just give up. They are a young team, and it's clear to me that they simply don't have a strong motivator on the team.

As for Brewer, he certainly stepped up his game tonight, and did well I thought, however, his ability to lead this team, and keep them motivated is sorely lacking in my opinion. This team needs a strong leader, and Brewer just doesn't seem to be doing it, at least, not from where I'm sitting, but then again, what do I know. I agree that once we get Perron, and Oshie back, this team will be scary good toward the end of the season. Keep the faith! GO BLUES!

By "run of bad games" do you mean the last 40 years?

I've been religiously following this team for over 20 years and the best I've ever seen them do is get blown away in the Conference Finals. It's pathetic.

Don't tell me I'm not a fan.

I've earned my right to bitch about this lowly bunch of sad sack losers. They are miserable, and they spread misery to their fans.

Yeah....been a fan for around 28 years now...and a die-hard fan for probably the last 25 or so.

Pretty ballsy post for your first one...not a good way to make friends.

I'm guessing he's a "one and done" kind of guy?

Oh man, how did I not bring up the Toronto game when talking about 3rd period scoring explosions!?

Maybe the game against LA came to mind because it was a playoff game, but that comeback against Toronto was truly an historic occurance.

Yeah, those moments are awesome when they go the right way... and horrible when they happen for the (Franking) scum from Detroit.

Yup, the LA game was a playoff game...and it clinched the series if I remember correctly.
Channel 11 replayed the entire 5-minute, power play the next night after the newscast...awesome.

Geoff Courtnall made that happen you know...he ran over LA netminder Jamie Storr and didn't retaliate when he was mauled by a Kings player...got us a 5-minute PP and that won the game.

Atta boy Courts.

Just for a point of comparison-- does anyone remember who Johnson's defensive partner was for most of last season?

I've always been a big proponent of Strachan, but he looks a little helpless out there.

I didn't get to see the game, but Johnson and Brewer looked terrible in the highlights as well.

I sure hope we find our way soon. It does seem like we just do a terrible job of recovering from late goals. Looks like Halak and the D have lost confidence in each other. Hopefully they can find it soon.

Yeah, that was one of the strangest goals I've ever seen.
It figures that it happens against Detroit. It seems like out of all teams, the Red Wings have scored the most goofy, strangest goals on us because of weird bounces or fluke plays.
You could make a 30 minute highlight video of all of the "stupid" goals the Wings have scored against us in the past 15 years.
I guess you make your own luck sometimes...but Jesus.

I forgot this game was on.

But then I had a dream that we won 2-0 behind a stellar effort from Halak.

That...uh....didn't happen, eh?

We suck.

No, I'm not a "one, and done" kind of guy", and I apologize for my outburst. I guess I just find it depressing when all I ever see is complaining regarding the Blues performance. Rarely do you see any comments pointing out what they are doing right, and I believe they've been doing a lot things right this season. I've been watching the Blues since the late 1970's, and became a die hard fan in the early 80's, and in my opinion, at the beginning of this season I think this was one of the best Blues teams I've seen in a very long time, and one that will be again in time.(i.e...when they get healthy.) In previous years it always seemed like the Blues would just stand around during a game with an occasional outburst of attack. Maybe this was due to the "Defensive" minded strategy of previous coaching I don't know. Now I'm seeing them play with more heart than I've ever seen before, and always on the attack. Something I've rarely seen the Blues do in previous years.

I simply loathe Detroit. I have for years. Year after year the Blues have been getting pummeled by the Red Wings, so when I see the Blues making them look stupid for 2 1/2 periods, I consider that an improvement, despite the loss. Once again, I apologize for my remarks. I'm just trying to stay positive, and get frustrated when all I see is negative. That being said, I'll make it a point to curb my frustration in future posts.

The kneejerk reactions are pretty over the top IMO. A team is never as good as they played during a winning streak, or as bad as they play during a losing streak. Obviously they are playing poorly right now, but who didn't see this coming? Although, I will admit, it's worse than I anticipated.

When we were 9-1-2, Halak had a 1.53 GAA and .940 save %. That wasn't going to happen the entire year. If you thought it was, you were kidding yourself. He might be great all year, but that's just not those numbers aren't realistic to maintain. Pretty much simultaneous with the collapse, Jackman, Polak, Oshie, Perron, and Colaiacovo got hurt. When you lose 25% of you active roster, you're going to struggle. Say what you want about Jackman, but I'd still rather have him there than Oystrick/Strachan, at least right now. They might turn into great defensemen, but they aren't as good as he is today.

Anyway, every team has it's ups and downs through the course of the year. This is a little worse than I expected it to be, but I don't think the past 5 games are a fair indication of what the Blues will be like when healthy. I just hope they don't sink too big of a hole to overcome later.

Plenty of blame to go around, but you've got to sit Halak and let him clear his head......it's just not there for him right now.

The good news......I thought that the forwards are actually doing a good job getting back in their own end and fighting for pucks.

The bad news......our defensmen are playing so bad it doesn't matter.

They all are playing terrible in their own end....every last one of them.

Well, there was plenty of good things being said around here about the Blues when they were off to their best start in franchise history...and rightfully so, they couldn't do any wrong.

But for the most part, over the past 5 games they haven't looked good at all. Granted, it's primarily due to half of the team being on the DL...but be that as it may, they've been the polar opposite of how they started. You really can't get off to a much better start than they did this year...but lately you really can't play much worse...and like I said, injuries are a big reason why. It would have been nice had the team played around .500 hockey until we got healthy, but that doesn't look possible right now.

I'm not worried...just pissed off, like most fans. They'll be better when they get healthy...it just sucks they are throwing away their 9-1-2 start.

They did play well for 2 1/2 periods in Detroit last night...well...the skaters did...Halak did not. As bad as the team has been playing, Halak has been worse. There has been all of this talk about how he doesn't let bad goals or bad losses bother him, but my God...when teams have been scoring on him lately, they've been doing so in bunches, rapid fire style....goal, goal, goal, goal. He needs to be better...and he will be...I just hope it's sooner rather than later.
