Dubnyk had a terrible game, man oh man.

Props to Bishop. First NHL shutout. Rock on dude.

And I'm not going to specifically say it cause that will jinx it. But Patrik Berglund had another goal tonight. He is closing on a marker that, as a double digit figure of goals scored, is considered a very respectable number of goals scored for the year.

At the moment Backes is our only one of them. Good stuff.

Chris Stewart will be a double digit guy on goals scored only as a Blue the way he is going. The goals as an Av will just be bonus goals.

Okay I'll just put it plainly  I meant like 20 goal scorers. Yea I mean obviously Stewart is looking better and better as time goes on in his young NHL career so we hope it'll be 30+ a year. But Berglund is 3 away from a 20 goal season and Backes is already past it (beautiful upgrade from his disappointing 17 last season).

With Perron next year... Three 20+ goal scorers with a 30+ goal scorer? Yes please.

I wouldn't be shocked if all 4 of them get 30 tbh. Backes had 31 2 years ago. Berglund has played like a 30G-scorer since Oshie has come back. Perron was on pace for 40 when he got hurt. Stewart had 28 last year, and should be at 25-30 this year despite missing time with a broken hand.

If those 4 could all score 30, Oshie, McDonald, and Steen all add 20, we'll be in really good shape.

No that's PHENOMENAL shape. Cup winning Hawks had 271 goals scored last season. With the numbers you've thrown out, that's 180 goals from our top 7. 90 goals from our other 11 suited players? Yea I think that'd put us at or near the top of the NHL in goals scored.

Granted that is also the best case scenario you just threw out

:) I knew what you meant and the way Stewart is playing, he could wind up with 20 goals just as a Blue. 6G in 5 games. He stays on the ice for most of every power play. Always does his damndest to get in front of the net in any situation. And has an accurate shot. When he does shoot, he isn't shooting wide. 20 G in 30ish games would be friggin' awesome and it's actually a possibility.

Stewart looking like a far better deal all the time. I'm betting people in Denver not too happy

Give him the rest of this season to form chemistry and next year could be a banner year for these guys, health is key though and them all staying relativly healthy and push for the playoffs.

Shattenkirk is going to be a great one in time, thinking the blues did very well for themselves in this deal, but again need to make sure ownership retains the people we have . :letsgoblues: :detsucks:

I'm very pleased with the trade too, but it's a little early to be making such huge statement about the trade. It has only been 5 games.

Stewart is showing signs of emerging into a superstar and Shattenkirk's vision on the ice seems to be great. But, in only 5 games, it could also be chalked up to a hot streak. We knew from the get go, that we would probably see a more immediate positive impact than the Avalanche, so I think it's way too early to declare ourselves winners.

If EJ develops into the player he is supposed to be and Shattenkirk never comes around defensively, we might be saying we are losers in this trade 5+ years from now, especially if their 1st rounder turns into a productive player. They could easily get another Chris Stewart with that pick and have ~Stewart + a productive EJ vs our Stewart + an unproductive Shattenkirk. I'm obviously not wishing for that or predicting it. I just think 5 games is too early to get too carried away by how great the trade is.

I am very excited about how Stewart is playing.

If Stewart winds up being as good as Shanahan - it's a good deal, regardless of what happens with Shattenkirk.

Heck - we traded Shanahan to get Pronger back in 1995. This is essentially the same thing. Power forward for expected-to-be-elite defenseman in reverse. Back then, the Blues D was essentially Al MacInnis and Murray Baron, so they traded the second best forward on the team who had plenty of upside for what they hoped would become the defenseman he became.

The McClement/Shattenkirk/draft picks stuff is all extra.

Sooo... the Blues will lose Stewart in a couple of years and then move to a warmer-weather city? :? :?:

Stewart not only can get us 30 goals but he is a class A player. Stewart stops pounding Crombeen when he begs for mercy.
