Re: Summer of signings Version #2
I think you will have to give TJ and Bergie deals comparable to what you gave DP. The rest plus Winchester can have small raises or probably sign for comparable deals. Tell Cam and Conks thanks and good luck.

I don't see them resigning Strachan (depending upon whether or not Colaiacovo is traded or let go, Junland or Kristoffer Berglund come over, a veteran LH top -4 defenceman is signed as a UFA or traded for, etc.). Winchester may not be resigned (depending upon the forward situation).
Re: Summer of signings Version #2
I think we have to re-sign Osh, Bergy, Nikitin, Bishop, and Polak
I really hope they sign Sobotka and Dags and either Winchester or Crombeen

Re: Summer of signings Version #2
Yes I would keep all mentioned and let winchester and crombeen go unless they want to sign a reasonable deal.
I wish they would have 1 player with a franchise tag that doesn't go against your cap! That way all teams could keep more talent and decide what one they franchise is really worth!!!! If they don't pay it someone else could. It would be 1 player per team only though, could help many teams with other signings.
The team could decide if they think player A is their franchise person or not.

Would they wear a `$` on their upper left chest? I couldn't disagree more.blues fan wrote:Yes I would keep all mentioned and let winchester and crombeen go unless they want to sign a reasonable deal.

Don't forget about Ian Cole in Peoria. He should be ready to make the jump next season. He played good his first few games this season when called up, but then tailed off some.Robb_K wrote:I don't see them resigning Strachan (depending upon whether or not Colaiacovo is traded or let go, Junland or Kristoffer Berglund come over, a veteran LH top -4 defenceman is signed as a UFA or traded for, etc.). I didn't forget about Cole. I assumed he'd be up with The Blues (Brewer's trade was spawned by Payne's/Armstrong's wishes to see how Cole performs,-according to Armstrong). The keeping or dropping of Strachan will depend upon how many solid bubble AHL/NHL defencemen are available to The Blues for next season.

Oshie and Bergie are restricted ans will get right about 2.25 mill a year on a two year deal just like DP.
Bishop is probably looking at about 1.3 mill a year on a two year deal.

Resign everyone BUT Conklin and Janssen.
They will not resign Conklin. Bishop will the back up and Allen will be starter Peoria and emergency back up next season.
Show Cam the door and let him go. BJ and Winchester, if resigned will, we take care of of his couple of minutes he get.

Re: Summer of signings Version #2
winning unlimited the way the cap sits now you develope the talent in a special player and if you want to retain them long term you either sign them to a monster contract or let them go on the open market. If you sign a big deal then it hamstrings your ability to sign others, this way you have a key player to build around that doesn't cost you against the cap, the teams would still have fianl decision on is he worth that kind of money or not ot let them go. It helps if a guy likes a team but still needs to be paid the money others get.
I don't want to see the top talent moving around or the opposite they stay for the big money and never develope much of a team due to the cap. I think it gives ALL teams more cap leverage and keeps their top players in place longer.

Re: Summer of signings Version #2
That's essentially just raising the cap by 9.95 million or whatever the max a player can make is. I'm not deadset against something along those lines, but don't see the need.blues fan wrote:winning unlimited the way the cap sits now you develope the talent in a special player and if you want to retain them long term you either sign them to a monster contract or let them go on the open market. As for signings:
Must sign:
Oshie ~$3/year
Berglund $2-3/year
Polak $2-3/year
Bishop $1-1.5/year
Hope they sign:
Nikitin
Dagostini
EITHER Winchester OR Crombeen (we really do need 1 of them, or something similar, but probably not both)
Strachan (defensive depth coming from Peoria is nice).
Sobotka for cheap, but won't mind if he's gone either. He's essentially Oshie w/ much skill or the ability to hit.
Don't sign:
Janssen
Conklin

There's no way that Bishop fetches that much coin. He's got like, 10 NHL games to his credit... he'll be lucky to make a million next year.DaDitka wrote:STLADOGG wrote:Im afraid what Oshie, Bergy, and Bishop will want

One shutout against a horrible team and all of a sudden he's worth 1.3 mil? I could stop one or two pucks against Edmonton too. Can I get 1.3 mil?

Well you never know what they will get..I didn't think Backes should have gotten what he got at the time(he's certainly earned it now) but with this management you never know.glen a richter wrote:Thisohio BLUES wrote:There's no way that Bishop fetches that much coin.
