Fail. You cannot keep dropping points to bad teams like this. Especially with your sole All Star on the bench for back-to-back games. Unacceptable.

Well, good point. Now we're in 5th and not far from 7th.

I'd be highly in favor of a trade right now. I'm not overly concerned that a trade would disrupt this team that much. The leadership is strong and I trust in Hitchcock. Bottom line is this team will be in the playoffs and out in the first round if they don't start putting the puck in the net with some more regularity. 43 (Franking) shots and 1 (Franking) goal? Un-(Franking)-acceptable!

Agree completely. This situation is begging for a trade and some new blood.

It just happens to us damn near every game.

I'm not interested in waiting for A-Mac and Steen to get back to MAYBE light a fire under the offense. They couldn't score before and they can't score now. Even if they're expecting them to come riding in and save the day with their soft melons ripe for new concussions, reinforcements wouldn't hurt one bit. And if they have to trade Cola to get the deal done or if they have to trade Berglund or Stewart to get the deal done, I don't care. Cole or Fairchild can suitably replace Cola and whoever they get will obviously replace Berglund or Stewart. I don't know what they can actually expect to get, but I know that Ryan Smyth and Jeff Carter are both on the market. Not so much interested in Smyth but at the moment I'd be highly interested in Sam Gagner who has factored now, with 2 points so far tonight, in each of the last 10 Oilers goals.gaijin wrote:Well, it happens.glen a richter wrote:43 (Frank) shots and 1 (Frank) goal? Edit: When I say "they couldn't score" I mean the team as a whole, not Steen or A-Mac individually.

That 2nd period and the last 5 minutes of the game was painful to watch tonight. They were flat out there or trying to make over the top plays that just led to turn overs. Porter was playing hard d and he got rewarded for it. Even though we hit a lot of posts tonight, they were not the better team out there. If we could get a goal scorer then do the trade but i doubt we do a big move. Halak played good once he got settled down, however Hitchcock's 'if you get a shutout you get the next game' is stupid if you play back to back nights and have to travel. Elliot should have been in net tonight

Rinne does that to darn near every team the Preds face, not just the Blues. He is the primary reason the Preds actually won playoff games last season.glen a richter wrote: 43 (Frank) shots and 1 (Frank) goal? Un-(Frank)-acceptable!

Same old story.
Piss poor offensive production.
Great goaltending...except for the first goal against. Jesus that was a horrible goal.
Halak has been outstanding since the first five or six games of the season, but the only real glaring issue is that his glove is still pretty bad...even after switching gloves. He constantly drops pucks he should hold on to, and the first goal was a slapper from the point he saw the whole way, and just missed.
And in the game against LA, after a stoppage in play, Halak tried to pick up the puck with his glove like four or five times and kept dropping it. I'm watching the game and just shaking my head. WTF?
He is the worst goalie I have ever seen at holding on to the puck with his glove.
How can he be excellent at every other aspect of his game right now, but at the same time have the worst glove in the league?

I think it's time we bite the bullet and pay the price to get a scorer on board. Small pieces like Stew or Bergs isn't going to cut it for what we need, we're going to have to give up one or two of our key pieces to get real scoring power and pray to whatever Hockey God watches over the rink that they don't get hurt.
And this is a serious post. <- See?

I think it's as simple as, they don't play baseball in Slovakia. Seriously, that could be solved with just playing catch before practices and games.cprice12 wrote: He is the worst goalie I have ever seen at holding on to the puck with his glove.

Didn't get to watch.. was it the usual "Can't solve Rinne" business, or just shitty offense?
Curt, I noticed the "unable to pick up the puck" business in the highlights and was a bit

I don't know if you have actually watched the last three games....but if anyone is sitting it's DP. He would actually be less worthless if he stayed on the bench and we simply skated a man short on those shifts.glen a richter wrote: whoever they get will obviously replace Berglund or Stewart.
The Bergie and Stewie line has probably possessed the puck more then any other line the last two nights (especially when 17 is out there with them).
Oshie and DP are both struggling right now with turnovers and putting them both on the same line with Backes last night rendered him useless as well.
You need to acquire a scored to put on that top line with 42 & 74, then skate 25, 21, 15...when Arnott get's back, let him center any two of 36, 57, and 15 (not as if we can tell the difference between any of them out there right now)....and keep that bad azz fourth line rocking.
Oh....and bring up Fairchild or Cole and out right release Russell.....he had two nice chances last night, but he's been horrible in his own end these last two games.

Russell is the one who really needs to sit. He single-handedly eliminated at least 4 Blues scoring chances. He did get two really good shots in the 3rd period, but his play in general was the worst I have seen from a Blues d-man this season.
