If that's legal, then I'm a banana.

And, we should start doing it to every team's captain, starting with Doan on Friday.

If Reaves does not get ejected, I doubt Franzen gets those two goals. After the Blues killed the major and scored their two goals, the Blues lacked the 4th line physical presence which was wearing on Detroit as well. Without that extra physical presence, the Wings were able to dipsy doodle around the last part of the 3rd.

Thanks for posting the video. I didn't get to watch the game, so it's nice to actually see what everyone is taking aboot.

That's pretty egregious. :detsucks:

If Franzen gets 5 minutes and a game, like he should have, then he can't score the 2 goals to tie it up.

Whatever. Same old story. Blues get jobbed when playing Detroit. Reaves gets ejected on a horrible call, and Franzen doesn't get ejected on a horrible non-call, and he scores two goals to tie it late.

The refs screwed up a lot more than just the outcome of this game.
If the Blues had won, they'd have been 1 pt. behind Vancouver & NY for 1st overall.
If the Wings had lost, they'd be behind the 8 ball in their bid to get home ice in the first round...now, they are in the driver's seat. That game and the horrible reffing may have just given Detroit a 1st round playoff victory and a ticket to the 2nd round.

You pansies need to buck up. Who's to say someone else would not have put the puck in the net besides Franzen? Franzen's non-call didn't force us to give up two goals. As a team you have to overcome that crap.

And, gosh darn it, they did overcome it.

I agree, if 80% of the team doesn't get so flat footed and stop moving their legs completely in the final 6 minutes......we don't loose. They got very tight and it cost them as usual.

No $hit.

One of the first things you're taught as a hockey player is that there are going to be really crappy calls and really crappy non-calls and it's an aspect of the game you have no control over. Some nights you're going to get fisted and other nights it's going to be fair. You have a choice: battle through it and prevail in spite of it or cry and whine and blame it on the refs. Yea, there are some games (as here) where it looks to be seriously shitty and the world is against you, but the refs didn't put two pucks in your net: the other team did.

F*ck the Red Wings, at least they're playing a Central Division rival in the first round who's going to be as amped about kicking the $hit out of them as we all are. Looking forward to it.

I don't think we played that bad in the last 6 minutes. Detroit just made two really nice plays.

Now, Franzen shouldn't have even still been in the game...but it is what it is.

Yeah, I'll call that out as being idiotic.

If Reaves' misconduct and ejection was unjust, then Franzen doesn't deserve one either. Both should have been two minute penalties, with Franzen's being 4 minutes at most.

Is this the third game against Detroit this year where they've blown a multi-goal lead in the third period?

(EDIT: Nope, just the second)

Franzen drew blood on a stick infraction. At least 4 minutes, and one could say that it was reckless and intentional, which would be 5 and a game.

Sick of the Blues getting jobbed. And that's exactly what happened last night. When even the Detroit Sperm Dumpsters announcing the game take notice of the inconsistency, you know it's there and it's reasonable to be pissed about it.

(Frank) you, Detroit.

That is all.

Discussing the Franzen/Backes deal with Wings fans.
They are insistent that Backes dove and should have been given 2 minutes for diving.
They also said that maybe Franzen gets, at most, 2 for a rough...so the penalties should cancel.

Wow.

Yeah...only 2 minutes to Franzen, even though he drew blood, which is an automatic 4 minutes but could be/should be 5 and a game.

Comical.

I muted the tv during the intermission. When the 3rd period started, I was furiously updating GameCenter to see how many minutes Franssen was going to get. I knew either my internet was down or the refs were giving the wings a handy.

Well I know 18,500 that disagree. The entire arena was yelling "quit standing around", "move your legs"......at least in person it looked pretty bad.

They went into prevent mode and Detroit picked it apart.
They were chasing in their own zone and didn't have the attitude of going for the jugular, instead they seemed to be playing to just hold on...which may work against lesser teams, but not against teams like Detroit.

That's my point...I don't think that works against anyone.

That's what Hitch is always stressing.....play aggressive on D.

I love the shot of JD in the press box after the Reaves hit and subsequent (Frank) by the red wing nutbeards in stripes. He looked like he was going to put a fist through the next thing he saw and then wear it on his arm like a livestrong bracelet.

I can see where wings fans think it is a dive - they aren't used to seeing backes fall over when their candy ass players hit him.

Clearly Backes prolly wasn't braced for a (Franking) sucker punch cross check to the chin AFTER the horn sounded to end the period, which is why he fell over. He didn't do anything about it because he was relatively certain that Franzen just earned at least two minutes for one of the two head head shots he gave AFTER the horn.

That was seriously one of the most amazing non-calls I have ever seen in hockey.
