If you are on the bench, you aren't on the ice. It doesn't matter what they do irl, it matters that they were playing in fantasy. Hence the decision making piece of fantasy hockey - you have to start the right players.

As long as they score you should get points for ALL your players.

That's the challenge of fantasy sports. You have to roll the dice and use your judgment on who to stick in there. I bet you're going to fill out 200 NCAA brackets....

I'm just saying what's the point of having them if they don't give you points? Plus they aren't really bench players because they're playing in the NHL but for some dumb reason yahoo fantasy hockey randomly assigns players to your bench eventhough they're playing!

You have bench players for days when your regulars are off. You swap them in and out as necessary. You scour the waiver wire to get a stronger bench, it's called strategy. Whether or not the guy is or isn't playing in real life is irrelevant. If you get points for benched players it eliminates any need for strategy and any need to know anything about matchups, trends, player tendencies against certain goalies, etc... In other words you'd literally need to know nothing.

Football - you have to decide which guys to play each week, because you only have so many positions. Guys you had on the bench get nothing. It's called being a fantasy coach.
Baseball - If you were dumb enough to leave a starting pitcher on the bench who pitched a no-hitter, should you get credit for not starting him and playing some other yahoo??? HELL NO!!!!

I see no way to move a bench player to an active player on yahoo fantasy hockey. There isn't a button or anything to change that. If you click "start active players" it still leaves many players on the bench eventhough you may want to start some of those players.
