Hutton stole this win this with the system not working, injuries screwing up all the Blues lines, and the Blues putting no pressure at all on the Rangers in the 3rd (0 shots on goal).

News was saying we won't hear anything about the injuries until some time today.

NHL Radio's Stellick and Simmer (morning show) had been making fun of Hitchcock calling Carter Hutton the Blues best player in camp. This morning, they weren't laughing and named Hutton one of their 3rd stars for the weekend. (Simmer picks 3 and Stellick picks 3)

Hitch told the media today that Gunnar and Brodz will accompany the team to Vancouver. Lehtera is close to coming back but won't be in Vancouver...may join the team for Thu or Sat game.

Yes, it's excellent that Hutton came in and played big time, but I could use your argument and say that Brian Elliott has done the same at times and made huge saves and stolen games that he had no right to. It is one game and to celebrate that hard for one game and call me out, is well, childish and silly, but I will take it in the sport of good mirth and banter that make up a close-knit forum like ours.

Like I said with Jake Allen doing well between the pipes earlier and with no credit being given to defense or offense: Take the win and run. We will need them down the stretch.

Too many of you, including Glen, pat yourselves on the back far too early for regular season success, something that we have made a habit of and are good at and have a great deal of confidence with getting. Hell, we at one point had the longest making-the-playoffs streak in the history of sports. And that's not a bad thing, it's good to see our boys win, but it's no big test, we usually make the top 4 into the playoffs, that's a given with this group, it's what we do when we get into the playoffs that tells the tale.

The only netminder since 2001 who has won a series or plural for the St. Louis Blues is Brian Elliott. Yes, before Ells it was THAT LONG between winning a single series in the playoffs. That was the season Brent Johnson beat the Hawks with Prongs wearing the C.

When Allen or Hutton or whoever have you in goal win, hell, just a SINGLE Playoff series, then you can talk mess. Until then, that IS the bar that Brian Elliott set, regardless if he had top line D and Offense or not.


I will remind you that every netminder that has replaced Brian Elliott have failed in this attempt, including Jake Allen. That's not speculation. What you are insisiting and living on, is pure speculation and until it happens, it hasn't. It's called an IF and I would caution you to be wary of ifs and very wary of calling out Brian Elliott, who is playing on a dumpster fire of a team who is the same goaltender who we had in the pipes that helped us to not just a playoff win, but to the WCF. Has Jake done this? Can he? Can this team? Until they have, they haven't and that puts Brian Elliott, regardless what he is doing now wherever he is, as a moot point. He helped bring them there, and until Jake does that or one better, whether on his own accord or with a cast of top drawer players, in goal, Elliott is the bar. I can't stress this enough. Elliott might have been that piece of the puzzle that, with players like Yak, might have been the combination to take us all the way. Now, we will never know for sure.

You can argue anything I have said or pick it apart or put up numbers of projections or what Jake Allen added to his Wheaties or whatever but that doesn't change history, recorded stats or playoff achievements that are FACT, whether you or anyone else likes it or not. Until Jake Allen or anyone else has done it, they haven't. Okay?

With all of that said, I hope we bring home the Cup after all is said and done, regardless who is in goal. That's all that matters and that should the goal, not just planning for the future, but planning on what to do when the window is open and the time is now, something this franchise has historically handled poorly.
