Teams first game after their "bye" week: 3-9-2 thus far with Carolina losing at home in OT to Colorado. The Avs hadn't won a road game since 12/29 ending an 11 game road losing streak.

Sitting here at the Rags/Capitals game ... gift for the wife. It's just mindboggling how unknowledgable ranger fans are.

Post Bye Week 1st Game Record: 4-12-4 (Boston got a win).

It's a good bet to bet against whichever team is coming off the Bye week if anyone actually gambles on hockey.

I was doing Fanduel the other night when the Hurricanes were coming off of their break but playing the Avalanche at home. Vegas had the Hurricanes as an overwhelming favorite (-260 moneyline at puck drop I believe) but even on the way home from work the NHL Network Radio were talking about teams coming out of the break with an awful record so if you wanted to bet on the Avs wouldn't have been a bad one.

I stuck with Cam Ward in my lineups because it was on the road and the 'Canes fighting for their playoff lives.

But you're exactly right, there's money to be made there if you're willing to take the plunge.

I think, would have to do the research, but the Avs and Coyotes have 6 combined wins over teams coming off of their breaks. Doesn't matter the quality of the team coming off the bye or the quality of the team they are playing. 5+ days (usually 5) of no games and no practices has an impact on a team's ability to play well. If the players were smart they would take it upon themselves to do something to stay game ready.

What happens in Anaheim if the Ducks reach a Game 7 and lose again? They already replaced two coaches.

What does anyone think the Blues could get from Edmonton for Berglund? They need a 3rd line center who doesn't lose 3/4 of his faceoffs which describes Berglund almost to a tee. Just throwing stuff at a wall to see if it sticks. :aaaa:

One thing we have going for us is that we're not the Avalanche.

Be glad the Blues don't do the crap the Oilers pull for playoff tickets http://twitter.com/jeresells/status/836750158872268801 That's a more than 300% increase if they reach the Finals and that's for season ticket holders... They almost double the price just for the 2nd round - not even Conference
Finals.

And the Tampa Bay Lightning continue to be plagued by injuries. Instead of defense, they lost 3 of their 4 centers in their last game (Johnson, Namesnikov, and Paquette) and all are out tonight. The only healthy center from their regular roster is 20 year old rookie Brayden Point. Ouch!!

This is how bad the injury thing is for the Lightning. They had 6 centers on the roster at the start of this season. None of them played last night.

Stamkos - injured
Callahan - injured
Boyle - traded
Johnson - hurt
Paquette - hurt
Namestnikov - hurt

Can you imagine the Blues not having Stastny, Berglund, Brodziak, Lehtera and then pick two prospects (say Barbashev and any other C)?

And they won the game. Thanks to the Panthers being dumb-asses who couldn't handle their players taking hard, clean hits and starting fights which caused them to lose defenseman for significant periods of time. Ekblad was throwing his weight around in the first. He gets hit hard in the 2nd and gets hurt, so the Panthers lose their mind and wind up losing Yandle for half of the 2nd period. If you're going to dish it out, your team had better be prepared to take it when it comes back on you and not act like a bunch of idiots losing their composure All because of good clean hits that pissed off the Panthers players. A 3rd Panthers defenseman was ejected because he was involved in a 2nd altercation coming in well after crap had started both times following a hit the Panthers didn't like. And then cried about it as if he hadn't done anything. Stupid.

Awesome sequence from Ryan White here. So busy crying to the ref, he can't defend his man. Will there be accountability? https://twitter.com/NHLonNBCSports/status/840981389881225216

Flames with a 9-game win streak now. Really shaking up the Pacific.

I don't want to restart the Elliott discussion, but he's coming off two shutouts in a row. I'm happy for him.

The Panthers have imploded. Last summer what they were doing to their blueline made no sense to me then and it still doesn't now. They get rid of everyone but Ekblad (why? I still don't know), sign Yandle to a deal twice as long and twice as expensive as what he's worth. Then the GM has the panic attack of the century firing a damn good head coach missing two of his best players because of a rough stretch.

I don't feel sorry for them at all and Tom Rowe needs to be fired when this season is over. Awful.

Dale Tallon needs to go, too. Per Vincent Viola, Tallon has final say over hockey decisions. Rowe was primarily handling contracts while Tallon handled player personnel decisions. Yes, Tallon sometimes looks great. And then, sometimes, not so great.

And the Lightning won again, putting them one point behind Toronto and tied with the Islanders who fell flat on their face in their return home against the Hurricanes.

I have to compliment both the Coyotes and Hurricanes. Even though both are out of the playoffs, they don't play like they are out of the playoffs. Can't say the same for the Avalanche.

Blues can't overlook the Arizona games and the Carolina game.

Seriously. Both of those teams are downright Spoilers this season. Have to take them very seriously if you're a bubble team cause they'll pop it on you.
