You work at home! I've come to the office right after the game has ended. Dunno yet how will I survive the upcoming 8 hours.
But who cares?! Blues win, it's worth the sleepless night! :woohoo:

Allen obviously stole that game for us. You need that here and there in the playoffs, and it's reassuring to see him do it. Now, the rest of the team needs to show up for game 2 though. It's nice that he can steal a game for us, but I'd rather that he didn't have to.

I'm shocked at the win with the way Minnesota was dominating the game. When they scored late, I figured it was over. A road win is a win though.

We were lucky to escape with a W on that one. No way we win a 7-game series playing like we did. Allen was the difference, beginning to end.

Not a shock, but man was that crowd annoying. Every time a Wild player so much as lost his balance they were clamoring for a penalty. But hey- playoff hockey- whatcha gonna do?

Pretty sure I got that right. Edmundson scores game-winning goal. And just stands there not celebrating until his team mobs him. A "no celebration" celebration.

A far cry from the dickish Kane finger-pointing crap.

He was still in shock. He couldn't believe that the puck would just be lying there waiting for him to pop it into the open net. Lucky for The Blues that HE was the LD, and not Gunnar (who wouldn't have moved up that far - instead would have been laying back to make sure a counterattack could be covered).

The Blues' defence and forwards will need to take a note from Reaves and Line 4, and play aggressive in The O-Zone if they want to score enough to win this series. They'll have to hope Allen can bail them out on all The Wild's breakaways and odd-man rushes.

Stastny and Bortuzzo need to get back as quickly as possible. Schmaltz isn't ready to play under playoff pressure with any level of poise and calmness. Bortuzzo needs to be in. Schmaltz gave up the puck and failed to complete passes way too much under the forecheck pressure. He only played 9 minutes in essentially 4 periods. The Blues' defence will tire very early with only 5 playing.

The 52 to 26 Reg. shots came from lack of poise vs. the forecheck, but also from only winning 1/3 of the faceoffs. Having both Stastny and Sobotka to take most key faceoffs, will help with that. And Stastny can play with Schwartz and Tarasenko, and Barbashev can move back to Line 3, so they can be at least a moderate offensive threat again. Stastny will help the power play, by having him win faceoffs, and be a key feeder, allowing some of the other forwards to move more, drawing the defence from side to side, to create shooting lanes. That will knock Sobotka down to The #2 Unit, providing better (more accurate and faster) passing, because of better and faster decision-making, and a better shooter, as well.

Edmundson has really turned himself into a damn good NHL'er.

Also, don't want to sound like a moron here but any word on if Fabbri might make it back at some point if the team goes on an extended run? We keep talking about Stastny coming back but not a thing about Fabbri.

Fabbri is out for the season. No chance he comes back. Surgery was March 11. Full recovery after surgery varies from 6 to 9 months. So... he "could" be back in September, but likely won't be 100% until somtime between October and December.

If the Blues as a team work harder at getting the puck through the neutral zone, getting it deep, and fore-checking, the breakaways and odd-man rushes will drop dramatically. Knock off the through the seam in your own zone passes and play more north-south. That's how the Blues controlled the game they won in March. They also didn't turn the puck over in the slot like they did last night. In March, the Wild couldn't even get to the middle of the ice in the Blues zone. The Wild only got there last night off of d-zone turnovers. Clean up the turnovers, more north-south play, get the puck deep, and fore-check to wear out their D. Those things happen - Blues win. They don't - it will depend on if Allen stands on his head again.

Flat out larceny.

I marveled at Tarasenko leading up to that Edmunson goal. Even watching the replay multiple times you just stare and wonder how in the hell he got that puck from the boards to the net. He's an incredible player, potentially the steal of a lifetime for the Blues in the first round man oh man.

And he did it to Koivu who many consider to be one of the top 3 Selke candidates.
