It does? That's why we probably won't do it.

I am just curious as to what other teams think he is worth.
I'm guessing not much at all.
Agreed, Dude may very well come out and net 25 goals this season, or he may come out unmotivated and lazy, and find his as watching instead of playing again.
That said, his upside is still such that I wouldn't trade him just to get rid of him.
I just don't think you can get much for him so why not just try and see if you can actually access all that talent he has.

This.
It was his second year, he may very well come out next season and prove he belongs here.

Completely agree.
If another team was high on him and was willing to offers something significant, I'd deal him...but since we probably couldn't get anything for him, he's worth more to us to see if he can live up to his potential.
With that said...based on what I've seen in his short career, he just doesn't have what it takes. He seems uninspired on the ice.
Hope I'm wrong.
There is no way this happens. I hope I am wrong, but I can't understand why NJ would part ways with him. Even with salary constraints I don't see how this would be the player identified to dump it. 5 years in the league, 4 season with 30+ goals. That's what every team wants, not what you trade.
Now, if it comes out that he's a) totally broken and it hasn't been disclosed or b) he's comeplete fail in the lockeroom, then I am certain he will be traded to StL.

Exactly, he has the skill, but it appears he doesn't have the 'drive'.
That's a common problem among Sweeds, but what I don't understand is he's made mention of it many times himself and speaks regularly of the need to stay driven. If he's going to continue to say the right things, but not do anything about it...perhaps his future is in politics instead of hockey.
I have absolutely no detailed info to back this up...but I was just sent a note from a colleague of mine...
Rumor: NJ Parise to STL
I asked for more info...will post if I hear more.
But I would imagine the only way Parise gets moved would be if Kovalchuk signed with NJ.

They won't move him EVEN if they sign Kovalchuk. There are several others they'd move first (Langenbrunner, Elias, etc.). Parise is one they'd keep to the last.
