I'm not interested in selling them, just finding other Blues fans that collect games and might want to do some trading. I have to have something to do from May-Oct.

There's a great nhltorrents site in the UK. Registration is closed but I have an invite. Would be interested in trading some games possibly (PM me?)

It might not technically be allowed, but unless you start selling them for a profit, you should be fine. Even if you did that, you'd probably just get a seize and desist letter and not get in any real trouble if you stopped at that point.
Games cannot be copied, rebroadcast or retransmitted without expressed, written consent of the National Hockey League.

Copyright laws are a bit out of control if you ask me.
If I rent a movie at blockbuster...technically...it is illegal to invite a dozen people over to watch the movie at my house.

I don't see why the NHL would care if folks trade old games on tape. The NHL doesn't sell these games or make the readily available, so where are fans supposed to watch them?

With that said...
What I want to see is that 5-minute power play we had late in game 3 of the playoffs against LA back in 97 or 98. Courtnall ran over Storr, a brawl breaks out and we scored three goals on that power play to come back and win the game 4-3 I think.
Awesome.
We ended up sweeping the series and that was a huge event in that series. If we don't get that power play, we don't win and LA makes it a 2-1 series.

I haven't seen that clip in over 12 years. I used to have it on tape...not anymore. Can't find it online.

Yeah, I know you need their express written consent. My point was that I doubt they would do anything about people trading tapes of old games. And, if somebody was trying to profit on them, and they stopped after being told to, that would be the end of it. It's not worth their time to make a big deal of it unless it's a huge operation.

I have that game on VHS. It's in my "to transfer" pile of VHS tapes. I have the 2000 game @ Toronto as well. I only wish I would have had a DVR back then.

By the way...technically... if anyone on here even talks about a game that would fall under the "accounts and descriptions" part of it. It all boils down to selling and rebroadcasting. If it were illegal to even copy for personal use, DVR's would be illegal.

It's not illegal to record something for personal use on a DVR. It's the distributing or sharing part that is illegal.
I'm not saying you will get in trouble if you do it, because there is a 99.999% chance you won't. Like someone else said, the NHL isn't going to do anything unless it's a huge operation, it's not worth their time or money... I'm just telling you, technically, what the law is.

A few guys sharing games that they have on VHS, in my opinion, isn't a big deal and actually does the NHL more good than harm. And like I said, the NHL doesn't have these games for sale on dvd or anything, so I fail to see how sharing them would be costing them any money.

Youtube doesn't have restrictions on length of movies that are uploaded anymore...maybe put up some of these games one period at a time??
Just a thought.
Still illegal though...so do so at your own risk. At the most, Youtube would probably just warn you and take them down. But they never take down any NHL game clips or portions of games. So I dunno.

Game 3 97-98 Playoff game @ LA Kings is transferring to DVD as we speak. Very nice picture. O'Donnell was stupid and it cost them. If you remember, early in the 2000-01 season, the Kings jumped out to a 4-0 lead only to have the Blues come back and force a 4-4 tie. I have that game to.

Next is ...Game 1 2002-2003 Playoffs VS Vancouver 6-0 W. Too bad the entire series didn't turn out like that.

There's a guy who's been in the process of putting his entire collection of Winnipeg Jets games on YouTube, one period at a time. He's had them up for well over a year, and so far they haven't been taken down. The NHL doesn't seem to care, and I hope it stays that way.

The MLB, on the other hand, are bastards when it comes to radio calls and video. I had a Jack Buck broadcast compliation saved to my favorites on YouTube, and now when I go to it, it says that MLB has taken it down. It's practically impossible to find any game highlights or anything like that on YouTube for the MLB.

Up next Game 5 Blues-Coyotes 1998-99. Blues are down 3-1 in the series and go to OT tied at 1-1 when Scott Young scores game winner.

I've got the Monday Night Miracle in my internal memory. 8)

I still have tons of old Blues tapes lying around somewhere... mostly late 80s stuff... some early 90s.

Is that the series where Pierre scored the OT Game 7 winner? Yeah, he sucked. Dude also scored an OT playoff game winner against Dallas with a wicked individual effort and a stellar top shelf wrist shot.

I loved how people around here hated Turge... even though he was (Franking) money.

It's weird seeing Drake and Walt with PHX. Grant Fuhr made some great saves to give us a chance.

wow, lot o great games.

The series against vancouver... that was our stanley cup year except for the flu. I really thought that team could win it all.

Goon: Turgeon didn't fight, but he had plenty of fight in him. I remember him taking some major stitches in his mouth and coming back to score in the game. He wasn't that flashy, but I don't think we have had a better center since.

And my favorite game, that I still have on VHS and you can find on youtube - sadly it isn't blues hockey. I LOVE the '97 brawl game with detroit and colorado. If you haven't seen it or don't remember, go check it out. It is what I wish the NHL still was. That game was all about shaking off demons, intimidating your rival, and making up for a bad hit in a previous game.

Oh skeet skeet skeet. That series is when I fell in love with the Blues. I remember staying up really late for that game.

Then Jeff Finley scored in a nationally televised day game on a Saturday at home at Kiel to send it back to Phoenix.

Great shot of Jamie Rivers saving Game 5 with the puck on the goal line in the third period! Nice video... other than the French.
