Nichol looked terrible on the faceoffs while Backes was awesome, you could really tell he worked on them hard in the off-season.

The FlashChat rating of this game was around a 3/10, the few of us that attended had horrible trouble staying connected (FlashChat is still broken!)/

The better team lost.
Blues outplayed Nashville rather badly.

Rinne is the only reason they won. Nashville didn't look very good at all...except in net. Blues could have easily scored 4 or 5 goals.

Not a good night for Halak. He couldn't cover up on the first goal and he was screened and let a softie go by on the 3rd goal.
Horrible goal to give up less than a minute after we tie it up in the 3rd.

Team looked a bit out of sync to start the game. Bad passes, mishandling the puck, poor power play.
They slowly got better as the game went on and were really taking it to Nashville late in the game.
But that's not a huge surprise being the first game and all.

I expect some improvement next game...and Halak needs to tighten it up a bit. His sub-par play from the preseason has carried over to the regular season. He needs to be better than that.

But...it's only one game, and the first one at that. On to game #2.

Halak's weak goals seem to have carried over from last season. I believe Halak will be the one who keeps the Blues from becoming a playoff team, unless he finally learns how to be good as the #1 goalie, instead of mediocre - which is what we have seen.

3 goals on 15 shots????? That's a disgraceful goaltending performance. Granted - it's more of 2 on 14 due to the skate thing, but 2 of 14 is still ridiculously bad.

And, yes, Rinne saved the game for the Preds. When are the Blues going to have a goalie that makes the Blues ability to limit shots against actually matter?

I thought most of it sucked. Perron was, by far, the highlight of the night though. That was pretty awesome.

The Blues doubled the Preds' shots, and the Preds doubled the Blues in goals. Some pretty weak goals but Rinne was super strong with the glove and barely coughed up any rebounds. I thought the Oshie-Berglund-Stewart line were strong on the puck, definitely behind the net. We were talking after the game is that with all the new guys out there, it seemed liked they were still gelling some. Glad to see Arnott get his first goal as a Blue.

We sat in Section 314. Definitely a lively section, that one.

We sat on the red line 8 rows behind the penalty boxes (and I mean dead on the red line) and there were actually some decent fans around us to my surprise.

I think 'out of sink' really sums it up well. We just din't play very clean..sloppy line changes, poor passing, etc .....stuff you'd expect this early in the season.

However, we were still the better team on the ice last night and were undermined by poor goaltending....big surprise there

goal 3 was Nikitin's fault, not Halak's. He should have read that play, stepped out and hit the ice. Halak would have then been able to play the shot correctly.

So the defense should play worse on purpose so Halak plays better?

Oh yes...He's a 'volume' goalie. He needs a heavy work load and needs to see a lot of shots to keep his head in the game....

Stop me when this line of BS starts to sound familiar.

He's in the NHL. If he has a hard time keeping his head in the game she shouldn't be here.

If he had seen the usual "30 shots per game" most goalies face, the score would probably have been 6-2.

Can we make a not :halak: emoticon?
