This will probably be a good deal for both teams. Boyes can and probably will do better on a different team, but he wasn't going to do it here.

Is this return better than the 3rd and Beukeboom?

Money clearing trade is all this is. Hopefully Armstrong can use this pick for us to get some actual prospects.

Good deal, good deal.

The two guys we needed gone the most, Brewer and Boyes; and it happens. Good luck to them both, but these moves needed to happen.

If we don't keep our first rounder, we're going to have to be digging for some 2nd and 3rd rounder gems this year  Stocking up!

Guess who has a power play goal in his first game for the Sabres tonight.

Figures.

He had an empty net (he cleaned up a rebound).. and was standing almost directly in front of it... so I wouldn't be bragging up Boyes, yet.

I dunno, that's pretty good for Boyes. I'm pretty sure I've seen him miss that same shot a dozen times at least.

And he threw a great check too.

I know many were happy to unload him, but I was kind of missing him on the fourth line last night.

Sure we saved 4 mill next year, but if ownership is just going to put that in their pocket....are we really better off?

Well, that's more than we've scored in our last 120 minutes of hockey. I would take the garbage.

The point was, when was the last time he scored a power play goal for the Blues? And he goes and does it in his second period of play with the Sabres.

All of Boyes problems are in his noggin. I fully believe that on a new team with new linemates he can turn into a 30 goal scorer again.

I still feel okay with the trade, because he wasn't going to do it here.

:plusplus:

It's not going to be a bad trade if he goes out and scores 30 or 40 goals. He did that here and Boston said they we won the trade fair and square. Then Wideman had that monstrous season, Boyes plunged in the goal scoring department and it essentially became a wash. I think Boyes' career will be filled with fluctuations. He has the talent to score goals, but he may need to have a fresh start every few years to clear his mind. And that's not a bad thing, especially knowing we got a 2nd round pick for the guy.
