I did a very very rough estimate at how much it would cost. Peoria has 15 home games remaining (only 10 after the trade deadline). Their arena holds a little over 10,000 people. There are 6 ticket prices that range from $12.50 to $27.50. I don't know the proportion for each price level, but call it $20/ticket. So, $200K in ticket sales per game. So, if he's traded before their game tonight and they don't sell another ticket to any of their remaining games, it's a $3 mil loss in revenue.
I'm not saying it's not at all a consideration.

Re: Blues Not Convinced They Need To Make Trades
I just like the fact that the offseason moves are looking better and better: We added several cheap, quality guys on both sides of the puck offense and defense for this VERY scenario.
On paper coming into the season, we had 4-5 guys starting in Peoria that were NHL talent players. I'm beyond thrilled that the stockpile is paying off: instead of slipping off and away with an ever-increasing list of injuries to our lineup, we're still winning games and being competitive. I give Army credit: he didn't want any injury issues to be an excuse as to why this team failed this year. Props.

I think tonight proved them right. I'd love to keep this roster intact, perhaps sign a quality defenseman in the offseason. I don't get into salary cap stuff so maybe that's not doable, but if you can sign one guy on the blueline, this team would be even better.

I think the Blues already signed that defenseman. His name is Kent Huskins. He was playing excellent hockey next to Pietrangelo before injuring his foot after only 9 games this season. When they get him back, they add the defensive defenseman depth the media claims the Blues are looking for in a trade.goon attack wrote:I think tonight proved them right. I can see Huskins easily taking Russell's spot in the lineup.Yahoo news wrote:Hitchcock added that he doesn't intend to insert Huskins immediately into the lineup once he's ready. The coach feels his six defensemen are working well right now, so look for Huskins to be the seventh man to fill in when someone is injured or not playing well.
