So did we every get a better explanation of what the hell was up with that non-goal?

If it was blown dead because of intent to whistle or shoving the goalie in the net, then it was not reviewable. But it was reviewed. So what the hell.

And who intends to blow the whistle after .25 seconds? That was not a frozen puck. In no sane scenario should that have been considered a dead puck. It was knocked in immediately... AND, AND, it was hit in with a stick, not shoved over the line with the goalie.

That was a good goal no matter how you look at it. Absolutely NO reason to call that one back. Zero, none, zippo.

And why was it being reviewed? Goalie interference is not even reviewable? What are they doing?

Total crap call.

The ref said the player pushed the goalie into the net, so no goal. IMO, the puck went into the net before the goalie, so it should have counted.

Shockingly, this line actually made into an NHL.com article and it clearly questions the officials decision.
Perron's bid for a second goal was waved off after review. He was able to poke a puck between the pads of Rinne after an Oshie shot with 7:08 remaining but the play was somehow ruled no goal.

These calls sting a little less when you end up winning the game, but it doesn't make it right. I was watching the game with no audio (kids had just gotten into bed), so I never heard the reasoning behind the call. It looked to me like the puck was clearly poked in before Rinne was pushed into the net. In that case, it should be a goal, yes? If the reasoning was intent to whistle (which is such a sketchy rule already), I can buy the no-goal call, but like it was already mentioned, the play was reviewed. So what was the call that was being reviewed?

That's not exactly true; see the Thursday night game in LA.
No, it's exactly true. Did LA get a goal in the shootout? yes, yes they did.

But, as the 'cock says, "There are no shootouts in the playoffs."

SOOOOO

I feel like the shootout loss puts a big fat "*" on this shutout streak.

Rules is rules.

Shootout goals don't count towards goal scoring totals, therefore they don't count towards goals against. It's weird, but that's another way to look at it.

Just like shootout wins should put a big fat "*" on Detroit's home "winning" streak which supposedly broke records set in the 70s. Guess what? In the 70s, they didn't even have OT, so those 20 game winning streaks were solely regulation and did not happen in an era where one team "has" to win each night. Given that - Detroit's streak would have ended at 12 games.

He only missed one shift anyway. I wasn't too worried.

None of or injured guys should be out for long. I think most of them are only off because the games don't mean that much and we're doing alright without them.

If the playoff started tomorrow, I think McDonald and Polak would be playing.

Strickland was on the radio yesterday and said Polak isn't even practicing. He sounded a bit concerned and didn't believe he'd be back any time soon....which means Polak is probably fine.

Read this morning that Polak would likely be playing if it were the playoffs. It's a bone bruise and a matter of pain tolerance.
