Yeah, I knew the breakdown of the penalties.

What's the 2 minutes for a visor thing though? If you're wearing a visor and instigate a fight, you get an extra 2 minutes?

And what did he do to get the 10 minutes?

The visor thing is because they give you an unsafe 'shield' over your face, illegal equipment basically, same as cutting out or not attaching your fight strap.
The 10 minute misconduct, IIRC, is automatic with the instigator.

Thanks for explaining that. I didn't know either of those rules.

(Frank) that, if two guys want to scrap, they should remove their helmets as well as their gloves and fight like men. Otherwise kick them out of the game.

46.6 Face Protection - If a player penalized as an instigator of an altercation is wearing a face shield (including a goalkeeper), he shall be assessed an additional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

Should the player (including a goalkeeper) who instigates the fight be wearing a face shield, but removes it before instigating the altercation, the additional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty shall not apply.

46.11 Instigator - An instigator of an altercation shall be a player who by his actions or demeanor demonstrates any/some of the following criteria: distance traveled; gloves off first; first punch thrown; menacing attitude or posture; verbal instigation or threats; conduct in retaliation to a prior game (or season) incident; obvious retribution for a previous incident in the game or season.

A player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation shall be assessed an instigating minor penalty, a major penalty for fighting and a ten-minute misconduct.

If the same player or goalkeeper is deemed to be the instigator of a second altercation in the same game, he shall be assessed an instigating minor penalty, a major penalty for fighting and a game misconduct.

When a player receives his third instigator penalty in one Regular season, he is automatically given a game misconduct following that third violation.

A player who is deemed to be both the instigator and aggressor of an altercation shall be assessed an instigating minor penalty, a major penalty for fighting, a ten-minute misconduct (instigator) and a game misconduct penalty (aggressor).

which is why it's BS they did not call Staubitz for instigating a fight when he left the bench so he didn't miss the extra 10 minutes of the game. Instead, he just got an extra two for "unsportsmanlike"

Rule 70 - Leaving the Bench

70.1 Leaving the Bench - No player or goalkeeper may leave the players’ or penalty bench at any time during an altercation or for the purpose of starting an altercation. Substitutions made prior to the altercation shall be permitted provided the players so substituting do not enter the altercation.

70.2 Legal Line Change – A player who has entered the game on a legal line change or legally from the penalty bench (penalty time has expired) who starts an altercation maybe subject to discipline in accordance with Rule 28 – Supplementary Discipline.

A player or players who have entered the game on a legal line change during a stoppage of play, who line up in preparation for the ensuing face-off, and who participate in an altercation shall be penalized under the appropriate rule and will be subject to discipline in accordance with Rule 28 – Supplementary Discipline (a game misconduct is not automatic in this situation unless provided for as a result of his actions in the altercation).

Agreed..

And guess what? No suspension for Staubitz even though he left the bench on a legal line change to start a fight. Why is it other teams do shit to the Blues yet don't get suspended even though it's clear in the rules they should be?

Pre-season - guys got the rest of the pre-season + 5 regular season games for what Staubitz did in this game.
