It's fun to watch the points pile up.

I am just looking forward to them getting in position to get more national respect. Winning upcoming games against detroit, chicago, and san jose would help that a bunch.
If we can keep this going you will stop seeing headlines that start out about how bad the losing team was. "Capitals powerless against Blues" and "Detroit flat against..."
It pisses me off when they don't lead with the team that won.
I want more offense, but I am fine with the defense.
Backes is shutting down some impressive players these days... who knew the captain had that good of a two way game?

Great road game by the good guys.
They really shut the Caps down.
I had a bad feeling about this game, but they came through. They made the Caps look pretty bad. Washington looked nothing like the offensive juggernaut of years past. They weren't able to do anything.
And while Halak only allowed one goal, I don't think he looked good at all. He just wasn't tested the entire game.
He flubbed a few gloved pucks making for some bad juicy rebounds, one of which led to a penalty because Arnott had to hook a guy who was going after a puck Halak couldn't hold on to. Going from post to post he was leaving room between himself and the post. The goal against was a bad one. He was real slow to pick up that shot. He mishandled numerous pucks when trying to play them outside the crease and made some bad passes. I think he misplayed pretty much every puck he tried to pass. He really is a horrible stick handler...he needs to just stay in the crease. Washington just couldn't capitalize on Halak's lackluster performance.
Another great game by Oshie.
Stewart and Berglund looked a little better, but still look out of sync.
Great hands by the apostrophe on the wrap around goal.
Nice defensive effort without Petro in the lineup as well...most impressive.
This was a real nice win.
One point behind conference leading Minnesota and Chicago. Here come the Blues!

And, of course...on the stltoday.com sports page...the first story is about Pujols...then there is a story about how the Rams suck (this is a Tuesday...Rams played two days ago, so wtf?) and then the article about the Blues beating the Caps.
The Blues win should be the lead story on the sports page. Huge win...4th win in a row, beating the Caps on the road, now 8-1-2 under Hitchcock, and only 1 pt. out of first in the conference and 2 pts. back from 1st overall in the NHL.
And it's the 3rd story, buried under a baseball story (offseason) and a Rams story (on a Tuesday).

And this surprises you why?
Now.....if the Stillman group ends up buying the team and Brett is back in town and running his mouth....we'll actually start getting more coverage.

Have you guys seen the standings? What a log jam. The 11th place team is 5 points behind the 1st place team.
The Blues are 1 point from the top spot in the West and 3 points from being out of the playoffs.
What the hell? I blame 3 point games.

It's why I don't pay attention to the playoff 'race' until February or March. There's going to be a lot of jostling between now and then. Teams that sit atop the standings will not make the playoffs. Teams that are in 14th will make a run. The Blues are doing great right now, but the playoffs are a long ways away. Keeping piling up the wins and we won't have to worry about the standings come spring time.kodos wrote:Have you guys seen the standings? What a log jam.
