It's official - Rivermen are good this year (corrected)

Peoria has a bad team this year. They are fading in the standings and things don't look promising.

The only purpose is to develop young players but they have a tradition of playing well as a team. Not working out this year.

The goaltending is very thin - Schwarz is it. And the vets aren't producing steadily.

Maybe we should assign Brewer down to help them

I wonder with Schwarz getting called up if Riksman thinks he was a moron for bolting?

Did Pola'k get hurt recently?

It's not that we are a bad team, it's just i dont think Bassegio is that great of a coach.

and Riksman is a Eurobitch and we should still have Cash but nope we got screwed.

and yes Polak is hurt, he got nailed into the boards feet first and sprained an ankle, and the guy who did it didn't even get a penalty when he shoulda been gone it was a dirty play, and go figure he scored the game-tying goal and the winner in the shootout.

Question: Who on the Rivermen would you suggest to be the best alternative to Doug Weight?

either Whitfield or Lil' Kariya should go up

Sure started out with a team that looked good on paper. Too bad it didnt carry over to the ice .....yet (I hope).

Seems like on the nights they score they give up goals and when they tighten up on defense they don't score.

Seems like Lemtyugov and Drazenovic are doing well. I'd like to see Birner make some progress.

Lemy and Draz are doing OK. I will give Draz the benefit of doubt. He is finally getting back into shape. He had pnuemonia for awhile. Lemy on the other hand clearly isn't in the right shape for the AHL or NHL.

Whitfield is the first vet that should get the call. The guy is a team player. He gives up so much of his body and isn't afraid of going to the corners.

Dupont hasn't lived up to the billing this season. I have said before Polak is not himself. Hellstrom is young and as much as I hate it Woywitka has been the best D-man.

I think that Jean Guy and lil-Kariya are playing as if they are still over in Euro. Kariya is explosive and fast. But because of his size He looks scared to take a hit from the young kids in the AHL.

But the Rivs aren't looking good.

Signs of Life

The Rivermen have won four of their last five, and earned points in 10 of their last 12 outings. They moved from eighth, to sixth, in the West with the victory.

The Rivs are playing in a tough division for sure. If they were in the Western Conference / North Division the 31 points they have (before this evenings game) would be enough for 3rd place.

I dont know why are guys are bitching....the Rivermen actually are preforming well at home thats what counts. They put effort every day. watching a blues game tonight i would put our entire team to the blues to play...they play with their speed, body, and effort. They are becoming more as a team and making great passes and the opposing team just has some good goaltending. Trust me the pucks will fall....

Ok...the plea is out there. The Blues have got to do something about finding us another goalie or we are out of it.

Beckford-Sue....

3 goals on 7 shots
Pulled @ 2:47 in the 1st period.
Gotta be some kind of record.

Kid might be an elite ECHL goalie, but is in waaaaaay over his head at the AHL level.

Maybe I was in denial earlier. They really are bad. I don't know how they can destroy one team and turn around and not even show up the next. Streakier than Lyndsay Lohan's hair. I think I have an idea of how Cub fans feel.

Beckford-Sue is an AHL goal he is by far better than Swartz. All 3 of those goals were 2-0 2-1 breakaways the only people to blame is the DEFENSE!! thats all it is its not he coaching its not the offense its not the goaltending its hte DEFENSE. Same thing occured on Tuesdays game was the defense played like SHIT! Rivermen were the better team vs Rockford and it was 4 games in 5 nites.
