Rivermen Eliminated from Playoffs

Post by majikle »

Despite a MUST WIN weekend, the Peoria Rivermen manages to lose to Iowa 5-3, Chicago 6-4, and Houston 5-0 to be eliminated from a playoff berth ...although I think elimination started back in February when the Rivermen managed to eek out only 1 win for the month. With 4 games left in the season it will be interesting to see how the club reacts now.

There's a shocker. They were done at the end of January. The rest of the division just needed the points so the Rivs kept helping out.

I see they are sending Toivonen down. I wonder if HE can let in less then 5 goals a game?

He better be picking up on the hot spots in Peoria while he's there. It's either going to be him or Schwarz backing up Bishop next season in Peoria.

I'm guessing, hopefully correctly, that Bishop will be entering next season as the #1 in Peoria?

He'll be in the Note by the season after, I think, if not starting then at least backing up a serviceable Manny at the end of his career.

Hard to say. People were saying much the same about Schwartz when he came over. As we have seen with Brent Johnson, Bachashuia, and Toivonen, young goalies can have a streak where they look like Glenn Hall, then turn around and look like Robert Hall. Heck, Sanford played outstanding for a year - then fell apart. Goalies are weird.

If you'd started with that you wouldn't have needed to type any more.
