Turek farmed out

Postby Kyle1512 » Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:59 am

No surprise here.

The Peoria Rivermen have shipped rookie defenseman Ryan Turek down to ECHL Alaska.

Turek did not appear in any games with the Rivermen.

I am surprised. I thought that even though Turek is shorter and heavier than listed, he would have still had a shot at playing a couple games in the AHL.

Ugh, spam post aside:

Turek has played great for the Aces. He generally plays paired with Derick Martin, and they are cut from a similar cloth. Both play very physically. Turek gets a lot of PK time and is more of a "defensive defenseman" but is not afraid to pinch in when needed. He's got a good slapper, and is a quick skater. With the injuries the Aces blue line has taken this year, I'm very glad we ended up getting him. The only thing I see against him in the AHL is his size, being only 6 feet could pose a problem.
