If Detroit wins the cup this year, and continues to be a force in the nhl, will Babcock be considered to be as great as Scottie Bowman? better? How much of Detroit's success can be contributed to Babcock and Bowman?

Babcock has one cup and has been coach for almost 6 years.

Bowman has 9 cups with 3 different teams.

I think Babcock needs a little more time and a couple of different challenges with different teams before putting him in the same sentence as Bowman.

Is it just me or does Babcock always look like the biggest asshole d-bag in the league? He always has that "I'm better than you" look on his face.

He does look like a real prick, but don't forget that he replaced a Hitler look-a-like as head coach.

I hated Babcock as coach of Anaheim. I love him as coach of my favorite team. He is better than you. He shouldn't be compared to Bowman yet, but he does have that Bowman-esque thing about him.

It seems like every time the Wings get scored on, they cut to a shot of Babcock on the bench, and he grabs his water bottle and takes a drink. I hope tonight he takes so many drinks that he pisses himself midway through the 3rd.

:detsucks:

I've noticed that too, but it was the same with Bowman, except he'd grab a handful of ice.
One other thing i've noticed is with Hossa, and not just with the Wings, but last year with the Pens, that when he goes to the bench he always has someone put a towel on his left shoulder.

I thought he was outstanding in Anaheim, and I was thrilled when he signed on with the Wings. Little known fact: Before he coached the Ducks, Babs coached the Wings minor league affiliate in Cincy.

I don't think that's a little known fact, at least not amongst Wings fans.

You're right. Bowman never lost in the finals.

Not exactly. Bowman coached the Blues to the finals in the first 3 years of their existence, but lost them all. Plus, Detroit lost to the Devils in 94-95.
