Apparently didn't qualify their RFA's the right way, could become UFA's

I vote we offer 14 mill over 4 years to Versteeg.

Good, he's yours. I'm all for trading Versteeg now anyway. Not that I don't think he's a good player, he is, but he's the type who's going to demand a ton of money from the Hawks as soon as he gets the chance. A lot of his production comes from being on a line with Kane and Toews.

Which is why I am not very impressed by his numbers this past year.

Versteeg definitely impressed me this year, but he was too inconsistent to really be able to tell whether his results are going to hold up year after year. Not surprising considering his age. I agree that if the Hawks were to try and go out and grab another big FA Versteeg's stock may not get any higher then right now, or maybe next year if he can just equal the numbers from this year.

Eager, and everyone else signed with the Hawks today, officially. The only players who are taking the issue further are....you guessed it, Versteeg and Barker. (Frank) them. If they want to try to hold us hostage over a technicality, they can get bent. The only shame is that we would get no compensation. My opinion on these two has definitely changed forever.

Why would the Hawks cut it so close? Qualify plenty early to avoid stuff like this.

Barker just re-signed and quite quickly. 3 years, $9.25 million. Your thoughts? Does this mean Versteeg is almost a "for-sure" gone?

I think they had to quick slightly overpay for everyone just in case...

This mistake cost the Hawks big time. They had to actually sign these guys at (under) market value but a heck of a lot more than what they would have got had they accepted a QO or an arbitration award (assuming any of them had rights). Looks good on them! Good luck signing Versteeg! :hawkssuck:
