Per Strickland. Crombeen gets $860,000 in first year and $885 in year two of the deal. A cap hit of $872,000.

I think this was a good signing. BJ showed some signs of being a pretty good player last year. Definitely will be good to have back in the grinder role. He showed he can score from time to time, as well.

See: Janssen, Cam
See: King, Duane
See: Steen, Alexander
See: Winchester, Bradley

I'm not trying to knock Crombeen personally. I also realize last year was his first full season in the bigs and he's a former 2nd round pick. But how many of these guys do we need? IMO, 3 max.

Good point. Kind of silly to keep them all.

I see us putting King on waivers. I hate to say it because of the five grinders talked about here, Janssen should be the one to go IMO. But he is a St. Louis boy, and will stay because of that one fact.

Also, isn't Stastny's contract a 1-way this year? So he might be added into the grinder mix as well.

Steen is more of a 3rd line guy than Crombeen, King, Janssen, and Winchester. And one or two of them will be sitting in the press box I think.

Boyes Mcdonald Backes
Oshie Berglund Perron
Kariya Tkachuk Steen
King Mcclement Crombeen

Scratched-Janssen, Winchester

And Winchester is not resigned yet and if we do get rid of anyone or send anyone down it should be Winchester, dude is like 28 and isn't going to get any better, at least Crombeen is in his early 20's. I really don't think we have too many grinders, who else are you goign to put in their position. Players do get hurt, as we saw this past season and I would rather have these guys as extras than Whitfield or Porter.

I don't know, just cause really. He is too much of a fan favorite to actually send down, putting him in the press box and playing him every now and then keeps the fans happy enough, but you can't send him down.

Well as long as we aren't playing him every night. I still would rather see King over Cam. They are about equal but King is more of a fighter.

Yeah, as much of a fan as I am of Cam I would rather see King play over him too. I think people forget how bad ass King is and once he comes back and beats some ass everyone will love him too. I say we play both of them on the same line, get a little bash brothers going.

That would be awesome.

BTW Winchester did resign with team before the Free Agency.

Winchester resigned last week for 1 yr/800k.

btw, what are you going to do if a guy like Palushaj comes in to camp and really impresses? That makes 6 guys competing for what amounts to 3 winger slots. But you can't put him on the 4th line, so then that's 5 guys competing for the two 4th line wings. Too many bodies and not enough slots to put em. Some is going to get waived/traded/demoted.

Pretty much anyone from that 5th line can be sent down IMO. Can also make some healthy scratches to make others. And who really knows whom will healthy to start the season and who knows whom gets traded.

This. If Palushaj makes the team, then you send down Winchester or Crombeen or you sit some people in the press box and they take turns starting. It doesn't really matter, who cares how many guys we have competing for the 4th line just send them down. It isn't like we are the Rangers I mean we have enough cap space that we can keep guys up and pay them without sending them down.

Why would anyone slot King ahead of Winchester?

Yes. We need some type of enforcer and fighter.
