Yes. We need some type of enforcer and fighter.
I have to agree too. And if it comes down to it we can put King on the Powerplay...

What? He is 28 and been a career AHLer, he has one year where he scores double digits and now he is a mainstay on the team and is supposed to take the place of our enforcer? Who do we have to be our tough guy if Janssen and King aren't playing? Crombeen? He had like one good fight this past year and is by no means a fighter.

I agree. Winchester is too old to give a normal roster spot when he has no skill as a hockey player. The guy did score some key goals for us, but he cannot fight, doesn't hit during the play and sets up in the slot like he is Brett Hull every play. I would rather see King and Janssen crash and bang every shift.

I am really at a lost on how to respond to this...

Are you forced to listen to the games on the radio, and cannot watch the games?

I am no King hater by any means, and I love hockey fights, but for the 2009-2010 Blues, King is the lowest roster player on the depth chart, I would take Cam over King, as I believe that Cam actually plays hockey better than King. Being the heavyweight king of ass beatdown and intimidation does not slot you ahead of guys that actually pot in some goals, forechecks well, creates turnovers, creates havoc in the neutral zone, and serves as a utility player.

Here is my "grinding winger" depth chart:

Winchester
Crombeen
Janssen
King

King hits waivers, and Janssen is in the pressbox.

I seriously feel that Blues fans have simply forgotten how King can actually play the game.

I am a Janssen fan; he won me over last season. He has more foot speed than King, and definitely his biggest rival in the big hit department.

But King plays his position better. He is always in the right spot when fighting for the puck in the corners, he is bigger and muscles people off the puck better, and is downright more intimidating than Janssen. People are less apt to go after our stars if King is in the lineup over Janssen. Cam does fight for his team well, but he spends half his fight trying to shake off his elbow pad and giving a nonsense jab to the chin with his left arm that does 0 damage. On the offensive side of the spectrum, King takes better shots and is more reliable in an odd-man rush situation. He is simply a better hockey player.

Looking at the situation though, I am happy with one or the other. They both are great and reliable at what they do. I just feel that D.J. brings a little more to the table than Cam does.

...and you believe King offers more than Winchester?

I can understand an argument for Cam vs. King...but I got to say, I think Winchester over either is a no brainer.

After reading my post about King/Janssen vs. Winchester, I don't think I made myself clear. I am saying that it is more fun to watch King and Janssen play, whereas Winchester is better for a goal-scoring and team building perspective. The only point that I was making was that I personally enjoy King and Janssen more than Winchester. But when it comes down to it, Brad is probably the better option of the three. Especially if he is put with a Tkachuk type again this season.

My apologies for my lack of communication skills. I am actually Aode in disguise :ninja:

No way Winchester scores more than 5 goals this year, I am gonna call it. And we have to have some type of player to be an enforcer and for protection of our players, I could really care less if it is King or Cam, I like both of them equally but we can't get rid of both of them, on of them needs to be playing. And besides, this really isn't an issue, we can either send down a couple guys or sit them in the pressbox, this is really a non-issue. They will all be on the team next season.

Winchester and Crombeen suit up and when the inevitable injury occurs, Janssen gets the nod. Maybe change it up when playing a rival. Doesn't seem too complex for me either.

No way Murray starts Janssen over King.
