The Blues defensive prospect told the team today that he is going back to school for his junior year.

I'll be the first to admit I was wrong. After last week's Pro Orientation camp, I felt Cole would turn pro.

"It was a very tough decision," Cole said. "The Blues were great about it, more than hospitable. But I thought that staying in school another year would put me another year closer to getting my degree, and it would be another year of maturity. Honestly, I think going back to school will make me a much more well-rounded and complete player down the road."

More on this story later . . .

I am assuming this means he is gonna stay there all four years. Why go back for your junior year when the team has told you, you have a chance to make the team if you weren't planning on going all four?

Kind of dissapointed, want to start seeing these defensive prospects like we have the forward prospects. I know it takes longer to transition to the nhl as a defensemen than forwards but I would still like to see him step up the competition from college to at least ahl. Hopefully Petro makes some strides this summer.

Not really surprised by this, but hopefully this will help speed up the Blues resigning Polak.

Hopefully this will help them decide they need to add a vet D via UFA instead of wait till their tit is in a ringer during the season and have to trade assets.

If nothing else, this helps to clarify the defense situation.

Why would this do anything but slow those negotiations down?
