Headline is there, but no accompanying text. The website and writer both have a legitimate reputation. We'll see...

Then they're idiots, because they can't afford him. Boston has a shade over a million in cap room NOT COUNTING KESSEL.

This reminds me of those already typed up obituaries that accidentally make it online, as if someone typed this headline to prepare for a story they thought might happen and then someone posted it without knowing.

Is there anything anywhere other than this one empty article? I've looked all over and can't find even a mention of it anywhere else.

I found a mention on HFBoards but their source is the same source as ours. I can't find anything

Little bit early for an April Fools joke.

Why acquire him though?

I don't get it.

As a trade deadline deal involving Tkachuk that might have been rational. We have cap space this season but that doesn't mean we go out there trading around for no reason. I actually really hope this is a joke.

Yeah, I don't get acquiring a 21 year old who scored 36 goals last season.

You're a mouthbreathing lunatic.

How many guys do we already have on this roster that are capable of a 36 goal season? It's more than one.

 clearly I am losing it.

Edit: and I KNOW that Boston wouldn't be asking for no-name prospects and a first rounder and that's it. The last thing the Blues should be doing is reverting back to 2000 and trading away prospects and picks for big salaries and big names. The depth and the talent is already here. There's no reason to trade for it. Disagree if you want; that's my opinion.

Yes, silly me. Phil Kessel is in fact roughly equivalent to what Keith Tkachuk was when we acquired him. And since we have SO MANY guys on the roster who can score 36 goals (that was a grand total of zero last year by the way; Kessel would have been our leading goal scorer), making a move for such a player would be plum silly.

Mouth. Breathing. Lunatic.

BTW, lots of non-denials in the media tonight.

Yea Boyes has never before potted 36 goals in recent history, Backes was all of 5 away last year and Berglund is a worthless sack and will be next year and for years to come.

You're missing my whole point anyway. If we were going to get him, it should have been at the trade deadline last year for Tkachuk and a pick or whatever it was. I will almost bet on it that that price is MUCH steeper now. Would adding him help the team? Absolutely. I for one though wouldn't be willing to part with Pietrangelo + whoever else (possibly a third player) and a draft pick that people have been saying it would take to get him here. To part with that much depth, no.

Now if I'm wrong and the Blues got a bargain, I'm all for it. But this team is deep and we're not dying for prolific scorers, that's what I'm getting at. Hell, if Kariya might be a pleasant surprise and with Oshie on the ice for a full year who knows how many he can put home.

This team's ability to score up front doesn't come close to what concerns me the most about this team for next season.

Agree to disagree. Fine.

According to JR, Strickland, and Eklund, they're all tweeting that it's not happening....JR said he talked to Murray
