This reminds me: where the (Frank) is DJ King? Would be nice to have him back in the lineup, he brought a lot to the table for an enforcer.

Re: Janssen vs. Barch
When he was at O.B. Clarks he had some kind of splint of his left finger. I cant wait cause that fight was boring. The linesmen should have stepped in and stopped it, it went on for like 3 or 5 minutes.drwoland wrote:This reminds me: where the (Frank) is DJ King? Re: Janssen vs. Barch
It has been reported by JR and others that King injured his thumb and was out for a couple of weeks.
You have to wonder how he is ever going to compete for an opening night roster spot when he will miss the preseason. He may have to go down to Peoria and bide his time, if it ever comes.
I personally would take Janssen over King, and Steen and Crombeen over either of them for 4th line duty.

Re: Janssen vs. Barch
Uh I would take King over Janssen ANY day. Better fighter, better hitter (thus overall a better enforcer), better skater, better offensive player, and just a smarter player over all.
I love Cam, but let's be real here.

Re: Janssen vs. Barch
yup, i saw too many plays last night that Janssen missed cause he didn't he have his stick on the ice. He belongs in the Peoria along with the rest of the team that played last night.drwoland wrote:Uh I would take King over Janssen ANY day. Re: Janssen vs. Barch
Both players' offensive production and contributions are so minimal, I don't think they can even be weighed.
I think Cam is a better hitter and overall skater (where it counts).
Cam draws penalties, no one touches King.
King is okay down low protecting the puck, but I think Cam raw ability to slam other teams at high speeds and his ability to draw penalties, is a bigger overall benefit.
All IMO of course.

I agree with all of this. Plus, Cam is a pest. Like you said, he draws penalties because of how he irritates other teams.SIU LAW wrote:Both players' offensive production and contributions are so minimal, I don't think they can even be weighed.

Plus, I think Cam can bring the home crowd into the equation much better than DJ. Sure, DJ can do so with just one punch. But from shift to shift, fight to fight, Cam gets people on the opposing team and in the stands to notice him, drawing loud, raucous cheers and encouragement from the home side. I don't think DJ commands that kind of presence.

Generally agree with all that is said here. I've been realy listening to JD, Larry, and Andy on this and here is what I've gathered....dmiles2186 wrote:I agree with all of this. Plus, Cam is a pest. They would prefer to carry only one of the two.
They think King is the true 'Heavy Weight' and is their preferance.

Yeah, when it comes down to it, I think the fans want Cam and the organization wants King.

The fans only want cam because they've forgotten what it's like to watch DJ pummel a real heavy weight.section319 wrote:Yeah, when it comes down to it, I think the fans want Cam and the organization wants King.
Also, keep this in perspective: Cam is our hometown version of Tootoo. You really want that?

Still though, they love both of them when they are fighting. But the crowd doesn't get as excited when King is on the ice like they do for Cam. And the St. Louis thing does come into effect too, Janssen is from here King isn't. And no I don't want that I would prefer DJ over Cam, as much fun as Cam is he isn't the beast that King is. Janssen is awesome because he will fight anyone but, like I said I prefer King.

Re: Janssen vs. Barch
Miklasz: Murray says he will keep both tough guys (King and Janssen) on opening roster.
So...what about Steen and Crombeen. Two spare forwards in the pressbox?
Is this just a technicality because King's injury runs up to opening night?
