More shoot out futility to come?

Per JR....
Beginning Tuesday the Blues are ending every practice with a shootout Drill. Each of the 26 skaters in camp gets two shots. The results haven't been good, unless you're a fan of goalies.

Tuesday first round...only Kariya, Backes, Jansen and Sydor scored

second round....Backes.....Yes, Backes was the only one out of 26 skaters to make his shot.

Frank the shootout, not because they suck at it, but because it's so grossly nontraditional.

Agreed. Either play it out, playoffs style, or go back to having ties.

No, ties suck, I hate ties worse than the shootout. Play it out like in the playoffs, but they draw too many fans with the shootout, people love it. They won't change it.

Until Bettman retires or dies. Which ever happens first.

So no talk about how Cam Janssen is the current shootout champ and is currently guaranteed a spot on the shootout by Murray?

Keep the shootout, but extend the overtime period to 10 minutes of 4 on 4.

I think you'll find very few games would go to a shootout if overtime were extended to at least 10 minutes.

Guess I'm the minority here, but I love the shootout. Although I think they should switch it to 5 shooters, I still feel it's better than a 0-0 tie game after OT like it was before the shootout came into existence.. at least SOMEONE scores...

People are all like, blah blah blah, it's a team sport, shouldn't be decided by individuals... well the TEAMS had 65 minutes of playing time, 5 minutes of which was 4 on 4 to win the game (as a TEAM), not counting powerplays. If they couldn't do it by that point, then what's the big deal with having a shootout?

I'm a huge hockey fan, but paying the price for a ticket, driving 3 hours one way to get to a game, gas, etc. there had better be a damn winner.

And to counter the "tradition" arguement...ties were part of hockey tradition too...and ties sucked huge donkey balls.

That's not a bad idea either...

I HATE tie scores in ANY sporting event.

If a winner isn't the object then why go to OT? Shoot it out and have a winner.

How in the world can anyone be ok with a tie in a game when there is goal (no pun intended) is for one to be victorious?

How about 5 mins of 4 on 4, if no one scores then play 5 mins of 3 on 3, etc. go till it's just the goalies slapping it back and forth... wait that last part sound a little dirty...

How about if no one scores in OT then the coaches lace it up and have a go at it?

I'll probably get ribbed for this, but I don't know how a shootout isn't traditional to hockey. You say the word "shootout" and hockey's about the only sport I can think of that comes to mind. I think it's awesome.
