Point Prediction Thread

What do you think each player will score? Another thread we can look back on at the end of the season. I would say that predictions assume that everyone not named Brewer is going to play a full, healthy 82 games. I'm lazy, so i'm only using numbers divisible by 5.

goals/assists/points
Boyes - 30/45/75
Kariya - 25/40/65
Perron - 30/35/65
Oshie - 25/40/65
Backes - 35/25/60
Berglund - 25/35/60
McDonald - 20/40/60
Tkachuck - 15/20/35
Steen - 15/20/35
Crombeen - 10/15/25
McClement - 5/15/25
Winchester - 10/10/20

Armstrong - CUT

Johnson - 10/30/40
Jackman - 5/20/25
Brewer - 2/15/17
Colaiacovo - 5/25/30
Pietrangelo - 5/25/30
Polak - 0/15/15
Strachan 0/0/0
Sydor - 5/10/15

Totals:
277/480/757 (predicted)
227/384/611 (last year)

Ok, so maybe my projections are a little high, but i'm an optimistic chap!

I think Kariya will get more points than Boyes if he stays healthy.

And I'm being pessimistic.

Yeah I wouldn't be suprised to see him hit 90 at all. He's got the talent, both him and around him, to do that.

I'll do the work of assuming injuries and call-ups, and using actual scoring numbers. I also expect fairly balanced scoring:

Boyes 30 36 66
Kariya 23 49 72
McDonald 19 43 62
Perron 26 41 67
Berglund 27 34 61
Backes 27 28 55
Oshie 24 32 56
Tkachuk 17 20 37
Eller 15 21 36
Steen 14 21 35
Winchester 11 13 24
McClement 13 15 28
Crombeen 11 12 23
Armstrong 4 9 13
Stastny 2 5 7
Palushaj 2 4 6
Johnson 12 43 55
Colaiacovo 3 32 35
Pietrangelo 4 23 29
Polak 3 21 24
Jackman 2 16 18
Brewer 2 17 19
Bell 3 16 19
Sydor 2 13 15
Strachan 1 7 8
Mason 0 2 2

You all obsessed over Chris Mason with his shirt off. Looks like Backes is going to have a good season.

Maybe a bit too many goals on Perron (I love his hands, but to go from only 15 goals to 30 is a big step)

I think it will be quite a disappointment if Berglund scores only 25 goals this year. That would be only 4 more than last year when he spent the entire second half exhausted and in the dog house.

Other than that, I really like your numbers. :okman:

Of course if the preseason is any sign, Paulie may lead the league in goals.

Someone posted over at the Asylum that Pang said on TSN that he expects Perron to be this years Loui Eriksson who went from like 16 goals a year ago to like 36 last year.

As upset as I am about Pang replacing Bernie, hopefully he will talk up the Blues when he is on TSN and doing other nationally televised things.

My hockey intuition says that Paul Kariya has an all-star caliber year this year(don't worry, I am knocking on wood).

I can certainly see that, he certainly has the skill. I just don't feel comfortable 'predicting' it.

yeah if Kariya is healthy all year then I really think my 25/40/65 projection is on the low-end.

I'm hoping you're a little low on Backes and Oshie. If Oshie plays on the top two lines, he has the skills to net 25+ in his 2nd year in the league.
