Who is Berglund's Dad going to be cheering for this weekend?

"This has a huge impact for hockey in Sweden," said Anders Berglund, a former teammate of Lidstrom's in the Swedish Elite League and father of St. Louis center Patrik Berglund. "You have all the great players from the best team in the world and a lot of them are Swedes. This is making a huge impact to hockey in Sweden. I think the games were sold out in two hours, so you can imagine that it's a huge event in Sweden and extra special because it is the Red Wings."
Did he just say that the Red Wings are the best team in the world? WTF? Doesn't he have to root for the Blues?
:detsucks:

I read that Forsberg is trying to make another comeback and signed a 1-week deal with Modo. The Blues need to sign him to a 2-game tryout contract today and use him against the Wings. That'd get a few more Swedes cheering for the team!

I see your point and I'm sure he's rooting for the Blues, but from a nationalism standpoint and considering their success the last decade, I also understand a 'swed' being excited about so may countrymen on such a successful team.

If he were an American (say a parent of Oshie), he would deserve to be hung for such comments. I take great pride in American’s success in the league and can hardly demean others for the same.

But the gloves ocome off if he shows up in a Wing's sweater.
I just hope he can find some enjoyment while we hang a couple of ‘L’s on the Sweden laden Red Wins this weekend.

Maybe Berglund is adopted or his daddy just has issues that he wasn't good enough to play in the NHL and deep down he regrets his son's success? Or he could just be a dick.

Sweden doesn't care about the Blues...they drool over the Wings.
All of the posters, magazine articles, ads, etc...heavily advertise the Red Wings coming to town, and very little is even said about the Blues being there to play them.

From a Swedish magazine talking about the Wings and Blues coming to town (images from St. Louis Game Time):

F Sweden.
The Blues need to take both of these games and shove it in their faces.

Berglund would have been a Wing (at least drafted by them anyway) if we hadn't made that trade with the New Jersey Devils during the draft.

Great, so we basically get to play an extra two games on the road... AGAINT THE ****ING WINGS... this year.

Hooray.

Let's just rename the Blues the Washington Generals and get it over with...

(Is this game being played on an NHL sized rink or a Euro sized rink?)
