The Versus guys were saying this was a good play by Datsyuk. I see a penalty that wasn't called.

The versus guys were having orgasms over the Wings. The tipping point for me was the helluva save Mason made on Datsyuk I think it was, that shorthanded try, and they were courteous enough to say Mason robbed him, and then for 2 or 3 minutes after kept going on and on about how it was such a great play between Datsyuk and whichever piece of shit Wing that fed him and basically saying it should have gone in and they were epically disappointed.

I thought that, too. They cheered here and there, but it was back and forth game with just slight crowd buzz. Seemed strange.

I thought the VS. guys were very balanced.

they said once during the game that they didn't allow drinks in the seating area. I think that could be part of it.

For the record, of course I'm estatic that the Blues beat Detroit. It's just not the same. I probably would be less annoyed with these Sweden games if the Blues weren't forcing me to pick another game for my season tickets because they're taking this Detroit game away.

I never heard the computer noises because I eventually had to turn the sound off. Those 3rd or 4th tier Versus announcers made the game less exciting. Very dry. I just cranked the new Alice In Chains album.

I think the album is awesome. I was somebody that was pretty against going on with Layne, but they convinced me live and on this album. Jerry Cantrell was a major force and songwriter in that band, and he is still in it...

But after reading the rule...I dunno. If McDonald saw the hit coming, it's not a penalty...if he didn't see it coming, it is indeed a penalty.
Datsyuk definitely hit him from behind, but McDonald knew it was coming since he had cut in on him.
From NHL.com:
44.1 Checking from Behind – A check from behind is a check delivered on a player who is not aware of the impending hit, therefore unable to protect or defend himself, and contact is made on the back part of the body. When a player intentionally turns his body to create contact with his back, no penalty shall be assessed.
