Strachan
Anyone else want to keep Strachan up with the big club?
When players return from injury or when Pietrangelo gets a shot, changes will have to be made of course, but I would like to see this guy get some more games.

Re: Strachan
I think he should stay. He hasn't done anything over the top to help us win, but that being said he is not making many mistakes that I see on the ice. He has good size and a lot of potential. Until I see something different I say he has earned a spot on the big roster.

Or Coliacavo outside of the goal he scored against Anaheim that didn't mean much.

Re: Strachan
When compared to Weaver, Sydor, Jackman, my memories of Brewer, or the defensive play of Carlo so far this year……screw playing him…….give him a freaking ‘A’.
Maybe that’s calling him the tallest midget, but it is what it is.
On a side note, we need a solid defense men like that guy playing for Pittsburgh last night…what was his name?.....oh…….Jay…..Jay McKee. (I know his struggles when he was here, but we all also knew how good he could be)

They said on the broadcast the McKee has 7 blocked shot in the previous game. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Re: Strachan
They need to dump the entire defense with the exception of Polak, Johnson and Pietrangelo, get Cole and Junland, Fairchild and Rundblad all in here and take their lumps. Let them all develop together. Get Mac down from the office for a couple years, onto the ice, and let him teach them all how to play their position.

You honestly think that we will be anywhere near as good (Not saying much I know) with a bunch of guys who have never played in the NHL and 3 you named have never played in the AHL even. It doesn't make sense, that's something you do when you are rebuilding and even then you don't get that extreme with it. Besides we tried to get Cole to leave college and he didn't want to.

Re: Strachan
I'm not surprised McKee is having a good season with the Penguins. When you play with champions its easy to be a better player. McKee just never fit in here. He could win the Norris this year and I would still tell you it was the right move this summer. Hindsight is 20/20 and McKee was a mediocre player when he was here.thedoc wrote:They said on the broadcast the McKee has 7 blocked shot in the previous game. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.

Re: Strachan
oh Section319, you missed the part where I said "take their lumps". That alone implies that I don't expect them to automatically be any good. What I do expect is that they'll develop together and by doing so, would create a better long term chemistry with the defense.
That's irrelevant though, as I know this scenario would never play out.

Hell, mediocre got Jackman an extension and Brewer the C.......
Sorry, I can't call Brewer 'mediocre', that would be a complement.
When assessing our defensemen, management needs to start assessing them against other NHL defensemen, not other ‘Blues’ defensemen.
